"Roderic you don't understand, 'Breaking Starship SpecOps Boys' puts you in the shoes of a fascist who discovers he was abused by a fake-woke megacorporation and…"
Okay, that's cool. I just want an FPS where I play as the Vietcong. Thanks!
If you want to make a piece of media that advances communist politics, I don't think you need anti-individualistic or anti-heroic themes, "shockingly" villainous heroes, or anything exotic.
You just need a fun story where decent people use teamwork to achieve positive changes.
Stalin is arguing against people who thought that abstract production like workers producing for general society rather than directly for themselves, was reactionary. The reality is opposite, those who demand their labor only produces for themselves are backwards and entitled.
Commodity is a product that was made by a worker for others to consume, rather than for the producer itself.
Why would that go anywhere? That's a pretty useful economic reality.
How many commodities are necessary is just a planning problem. Without a plan: over and under prod.
@RodericDay "Landlords take half my paycheck and don't even do any work at all!"
you're gonna wanna sit down for this one. see, there's a factory owner over there, and there's this concept called "surplus value"...
Classic Lenin ripping into Hudson and pals from the grave.
There's probably nothing more ideologically dangerous for the budding Marxism of the West today than incessant chatter that "financialized capitalism" (evil) is corrupting "industrial capitalism" (wholesome).
"Growth" here being profits but there's more weed and it's cheaper than ever, that's good. This should happen to every processed good.
Growth until there's abundance and workers can be reassigned to other work is amazing, where capital fails is rationally planning that part.
fascism is idiotic because there is no dark side of the force, no hidden power unlocked by the decision to turn one's back on modern morality and embrace being a shitty person. you're just a shitty person, and then you lose.
if you neglect the reality principle and the way it mediates the relationship between intentions and outcomes, then you're likely to blame all bad outcomes on bad intentions, making you misanthropic, leaving the beauty of your soul contingent on your not doing anything too hard
Nietzsche resonates deeply with liberal artists and academics because they're also on that boat: materially, they want to find sugardaddy patrons to enable them to engage in narcissistic and rareified self-exploration, spurning the earthly concerns of the "rabble" as vulgar.
Difference between the Chinese and Western approaches to AI. Professor Zhang Weiwei explains that:
“It is unstoppable, and since it is unstoppable, the approach of the Chinese people is this: We calmly accept it and develop it, and then, in this process, we maximize the benefits and minimize the harms. That is, we solve problems as they arise.”
It's actually so absurd that anyone out there could seriously read Nietzsche and conclude he was anything close to a fighter for the oppressed, for the liberation of workers or women or minorities, or really anything other than a snooty fascist 𝑎𝑣𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑙𝑎 𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑟𝑒.
I’m referring to the expression of life vs alienated being, you nitwit. You don’t understand anything I said about fashion, which I love. Take your worthless potshots and pathetic sycophants somewhere else.
@Ord_Snowflake@NiaFrome He’s turbo liberal trash who gets paid to fearmonger about China, I couldn’t give less of a shit about whether or not your interpretation of what I’m saying conflicts with his “advice.”
The imperial core will reluctantly admit its wealth was built off the physical labour of the people it colonized, but it much less readily acknowledges it relied on their intellectual contributions too
Some examples:
- rice cultivation
- metallurgy
- gunpowder
- paper
- compass
@NiaFrome Imo, when Marx says it’s good to go to the public house, he’s also saying you should be wearing an outrageously stupid hat made from a pbr box
@NiaFrome What gets lost in this convo is that dressing stupidly ridiculous/badly with intention is fucking awesome. Menswear guy type “fashion” is bourgeois slop.
Applying the self-discipline I try nurturing wrt studying to fashion reaps similar benefits. (Develops taste/instincts)
