Agree. Selling personal compute is the future.
But the key is cheap energy.
I started with solar panels and batteries 15kw so I get almost unlimited power most of the year.
Then I can run almost unlimited intelligence at the cost of HW depreciations.
Hardware is needed, of course, but energy is one of the biggest costs.
Interesting idea, but I’m not convinced Bitcoin mining is the best use of excess residential solar. If 1 kWh currently turns into ~€0.074 of BTC, the economics are pretty thin once you include the ASIC cost, noise, heat and rapid hardware obsolescence.
For roughly the same €4k, a GB10/GX10 gives you 128 GB unified memory, a full private AI workstation, and can also be rented out for compute when idle. Current verified GB10 hosts in Europe are around $0.25–0.32/hour, while the GX10 peaks at only 240 W system power.
Solar surplus → useful compute → AI + rental revenue feels like a much more flexible asset than solar surplus → ASIC → BTC.
