Close adult supervision is not enough. The private use of fireworks is unsafe under any conditions. Bottle rockets cause almost 60% of firework-related eye injuries. Sparklers can result in skin burn - 2/3 of sparkler-related injuries are among kids younger than 5 yrs. @sdennymd
Today is International Water Safety Day!
It was designed to help spread global awareness about the current drowning pandemic and for advocating further education to children about being safer in and around water. #watersafetymonth#ndpa#PreventDrowning#T4CIP
I was fortunate that through the advocacy education with @T4CIP_, I was able to contribute to this #PreventDrowning conversation with a blog post written for @nationwidekids @NCHPedsRes @NCHforFellows (the link is correct :) )

So excited that the @OHPediatricians Store It Safe program continues to be recognized for its importance in preventing accidental firearm injury in children and suicide in adolescents. Thank you @caresource for your support!
"Ohio AAP is incredibly grateful for our long-time partnership with @caresource. Their support will allow us to take our SIS work out of the primary care setting & into the community, where we hope to impact even more youth & teens.”- @melwerveyarnold

Ohio AAP Board Members & Advocacy Chairs @sdennymd & Dr. Bill Cotton spent their morning promoting the value of primary care alongside our coalition partners, @OhioAFP, Ohio ACOFP, and @OhioAcp. Primary care is the foundation of a strong health care system!
Loved hosting this great group of @nationwidekids Advocacy Advanced Competency residents for dinner and discussion on advocacy and health literacy. Thank you Dr. Abrams for being our guest speaker! #PutKids1st#ChildHealthAdvocacy
Leaders from around the state working hard today to make sure that we are intentionally focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion in ALL that we do. @OHPediatricians#PutKids1st
We’re excited to kick off our third (!) year of #T4CIP tonight with our largest cohort yet and a rockstar line up of facilitators. We’ll be working toward a Day of Action on May 24 about drowning prevention. @AAPSOPT
