ποΈ31 October 2026 | Daily Edition: Page 2/2
17 additional developments stood out across crypto, spanning Fed hike signals, hot inflation, the worst equity day since June, oil and gold, corporate treasuries, tokenized treasury management, stablecoin payments, prediction markets, regulation and protocol development.
Continued from Page 1/2.
1β£8β£ Fed officials made the case for more rate hikes
Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan said on Friday that the FOMC needs "at least two more 25-basis-point rate increases" before pausing, adding that skipping a meeting does not change the policy destination.
St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem said "additional firming of monetary policy will be necessary, and soon." The Fed held its target range at 3.75% to 4.00% this week in a 10-2 vote, with Governor Lisa Cook and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack dissenting in favor of a hike.
The remarks reinforced expectations that the Fed could return to hiking at its December meeting.
ποΈ Market significance: A tightening bias at a time of weak crypto and equity prices removes the policy cushion that risk assets often lean on during drawdowns.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I would take Logan's guidance seriously because it is unusually specific. Two more hikes would push the range toward 4.25% to 4.50%, and crypto rallies would need to come from flows and structure rather than easier money.
1β£9β£ Inflation and growth data kept the hawks in charge
September PCE inflation rose 0.5% on the month and 3.6% from a year earlier, while core PCE rose 0.3% and 3.1%, according to the BEA.
Real GDP grew at a 3.4% annualized rate in the third quarter, up from 2.2% in the second quarter.
ποΈ Market significance: Strong growth with inflation above 3% is the combination that justifies further tightening, which is exactly what Fed speakers signaled on Friday.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: The data explains the Fed's tone. Until core inflation turns lower, I do not expect policy to provide a tailwind for crypto.
2β£0β£ U.S. stocks had their worst day since June
The S&P 500 fell 1.82% to 7,580.07 on Friday, its worst day since June and its third straight weekly loss. The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.86% to 25,437.00, and the Dow lost 1.09% to 51,770.31.
The Nasdaq finished October down about 5.2%, its worst month since March 2025, while the Dow gained about 1.5% for the month.
ποΈ Market significance: Technology weakness and crypto weakness have moved together this month, which limits crypto's ability to decouple on its own news.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I would watch the Nasdaq as closely as any crypto chart next week. A further slide in tech would make it harder for Bitcoin to reclaim $80K regardless of how the Binance restart goes.
2β£1β£ Treasury yields fell while the dollar held firm
The 10-year Treasury yield fell about 5.8 basis points to about 4.93%, its biggest monthly decline in nearly three years, while the 2-year yield stood near 4.59% and the 30-year near 5.31%.
The dollar index was near 101.92, and the yen traded around 157.5 per dollar after the Bank of Japan held at 1.25%.
ποΈ Market significance: Falling long yields alongside a hawkish Fed point to growth and risk concerns rather than easier policy, which is a defensive signal rather than a supportive one.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I would not read lower long yields as relief for crypto. It looks more like a flight to safety, and that rarely helps high-beta assets in the short term.
2β£2β£ Oil jumped as gold and silver slumped
Brent crude rose about 2.4% to about $117.63, and WTI reached about $104.12, both six-month highs, as the Iran war continued and a tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.
Gold fell about 3.6% to about $3,874.58, a one-year low, and silver dropped about 6.4% to about $49.06.
ποΈ Market significance: Rising energy prices feed directly into the inflation data the Fed is reacting to, while the drop in precious metals suggests a broad liquidation of hedges.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: Oil above $115 is the macro variable I would rank highest right now. It keeps inflation pressure alive and keeps the Fed hawkish, which matters more for crypto than any single data release.
2β£3β£ Iole will sell its entire Bitcoin holding to fund AI data centers
Tokyo-listed Iole said it will sell all 151.21 BTC by the end of November for about Β₯1.831B, booking a loss of about Β₯254M, and redirect the funds to AI data centers.
ποΈ Market significance: The sale is small, but it shows that some corporate Bitcoin treasuries are being reconsidered when prices fall and other investment themes look more attractive.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I would separate committed treasury strategies from opportunistic ones. Smaller companies that bought Bitcoin as a trend are the most likely to sell in a drawdown, and that is a source of supply worth tracking.
2β£4β£ Uber completed a tokenized treasury pilot on Canton
Uber completed a pilot on the Canton Network with HSBC, Franklin Templeton, Tradeweb and Fireblocks, using HSBC tokenized deposits to buy a tokenized Franklin Templeton money-market fund and selling part of it over the weekend.
The setup used atomic delivery-versus-payment settlement and reportedly added about 1.5 days of yield compared with a conventional Friday exit.
ποΈ Market significance: This is a concrete corporate treasury use case: keeping cash invested over weekends while retaining access for payments.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I find this more meaningful than many tokenization announcements because the benefit is measurable. Extra yield days on corporate cash is a simple argument that treasurers can understand.
2β£5β£ OnePay added direct USDC deposits to checking accounts
Walmart-backed OnePay began letting select U.S. customers deposit USDC directly into their checking balances, converting it to dollars through Stripe's Bridge platform.
The feature supports 12 blockchains, including Solana and Ethereum.
ποΈ Market significance: Stablecoins reaching a mass-market consumer finance app connects on-chain earnings directly to everyday bill payments.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: The important part is the off-ramp, not the on-ramp. Making stablecoin income spendable in a checking account removes one of the biggest frictions for gig workers and freelancers paid in crypto.
2β£6β£ Anchorpoint expanded its Hong Kong dollar stablecoin to Solana
Anchorpoint Financial, backed by Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong), HKT and Animoca Brands and licensed by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, is expanding its HKDAP stablecoin from an Ethereum beta to Solana.
The Solana Foundation joined Anchorpoint's Tokenised Money Adoption Programme as a strategic partner.
ποΈ Market significance: Licensed non-dollar stablecoins are a key test of whether regulated Asian hubs can build their own on-chain money rails.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I see this as a positioning move for Hong Kong more than a near-term volume story. Adoption will depend on whether merchants and payment firms actually settle in HKDAP.
2β£7β£ Polygon added Solana to its Open Money Stack
Polygon integrated Solana into its Open Money Stack, letting businesses manage bank deposits, stablecoins such as USDC and USDT, and payouts through one API across Solana, Polygon, Ethereum chains and TRON.
Early adopter Kira uses it to convert stablecoins to dollars for supplier payments.
ποΈ Market significance: Payment infrastructure is moving toward multi-chain abstraction, where the business does not need to care which network settles the transfer.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I think this is the direction the market is heading. The chains that win payments may be the ones that are easiest to integrate, not the ones with the strongest token narrative.
2β£8β£ Base reported record card spending and set its Denim upgrade
Base said card spending on the network reached $243M in October, up 80% from March, and that Coinbase Tokenized Stocks passed $4B in all-time DEX trading.
Its Denim upgrade, which brings 200-millisecond blocks, went live on testnet ahead of mainnet activation on 5 November. Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin was also added on Base.
ποΈ Market significance: Card spending is one of the few on-chain metrics tied directly to real-world consumption rather than trading.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I would watch whether card spend keeps growing through a weak market. If it does, it supports the case that payments activity on Base is less dependent on crypto prices.
2β£9β£ Tether reported a $1.5B third-quarter profit
Tether reported about $1.5B of profit for the third quarter, with reserve assets of about $191.5B and a reserve buffer of about $7.95B at the end of September.
ποΈ Market significance: A large excess reserve buffer matters more this week, when issuers are freezing stolen funds and users are watching stablecoin backing closely.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I would focus on the buffer rather than the profit. Close to $8B of excess reserves gives Tether room to absorb shocks, but I still want to see USDT supply stop shrinking.
3β£0β£ Prediction markets priced a Democratic House ahead of Tuesday's midterms
As of Friday, Kalshi priced Democrats at about 92% to win the House and about 68.5% to win the Senate, while Polymarket showed about 94% and 69%, according to market trackers.
Kalshi's congressional control market drew about $73.3M of volume, reported as the largest midterm prediction market pool in U.S. history.
ποΈ Market significance: The midterms are the first major U.S. election in which prediction markets are being cited widely in mainstream coverage, which puts their accuracy under a public test.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I would watch the Senate rather than the House for crypto policy. Committee control will shape whether market-structure legislation returns after the CLARITY Act failed in the Senate in September.
3β£1β£ The CFTC opened a voluntary registration pathway for offshore venues
CFTC Chairman Michael Selig proposed a voluntary registration pathway for offshore trading platforms to serve U.S. customers, with public comments due by 14 December.
ποΈ Market significance: A formal route for offshore exchanges could bring more global crypto liquidity under U.S. oversight instead of keeping U.S. users locked out.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: The timing is notable. After the Binance breach, any registration framework will likely face sharper questions about custody controls, and I would expect comments to focus heavily on security standards.
3β£2β£ Two Texas brothers were sentenced for an $8M crypto robbery
Two brothers in Texas received prison sentences of 15 and 15.5 years for an $8M cryptocurrency robbery.
ποΈ Market significance: Physical attacks on crypto holders remain a growing enforcement priority as wealth held in self-custody rises.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: Long sentences send a deterrent signal, but personal operational security matters as much as legal deterrence for large holders.
3β£3β£ Ethereum validators adopted a faster block propagation layer
Optimum said its mump2p protocol, which spreads block data using network coding without changing Ethereum's core rules, saw Total Value Boosted rise about 76% in a week to about 2.49M ETH.
The firm reported blocks arriving about 277 milliseconds earlier on average, and a Blockdaemon case study cited 39.7% fewer wrong head votes.
ποΈ Market significance: Faster propagation reduces missed and orphaned blocks, which matters for validator rewards and for traders sensitive to latency.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: I like improvements that make Ethereum faster without a hard fork. Adoption by large operators is the signal to track.
3β£4β£ Bitcoin's whitepaper turned 18
Saturday marked the 18th anniversary of the Bitcoin whitepaper, published on 31 October 2008.
ποΈ Market significance: The anniversary lands in a week that tested the trust model centralized exchanges built on top of Bitcoin.
π¨οΈ My viewpoint: The timing is a fair reminder that self-custody was the original design. The Binance breach has made that point more practical than philosophical.
π¨οΈ My Overall Viewpoint: Page 2
Crypto is closing October with two problems at once: a confidence test at the largest exchange and a macro backdrop that has turned less forgiving. Fed officials are openly calling for more hikes, PCE inflation is at 3.6%, Brent is near $118 and the Nasdaq just had its worst month since March 2025. That leaves little policy support for a quick recovery.
For price, I am watching $76K on Bitcoin and $2,300 on Ether, alongside Monday's Binance reserve report, the next ETF sessions and Tuesday's midterms. A reclaim of $80K with ETF inflows returning would tell me the breach was a shock. A break below $76K with continued outflows would tell me it is becoming a trend.
Under the surface, the building continues. Uber's weekend yield pilot, OnePay's USDC deposits, Hong Kong's licensed stablecoin on Solana and record card spending on Base are real use cases that do not depend on this week's price. I remain constructive on infrastructure and selective on exposure.

URGENT:
The Fire in a lab at the SAVANNAH RIVER SITE Nuclear bomb factory has yet to be transparent with the Metro Community.
Earlier it was reported a lab employee had been injured in the lab fire and rushed to one of our local hospitals for treatment. It was also reported that some nuclear material had escaped into the air on site. The site is 300 miles wide and the FAA doesn't allow any aircraft to fly near or across the site. The site failed to notify the state of South Carolina as protocol states.
When I was still an active L.E.O. I volunteered and was trained to respond to nuclear incidents on highways, raillroads, and at sea.
We had many many of us trained, both Georgia and South Carolina L.E.O.'s knew the seriousness of an accident happening and the site security could be overwhelming in securing the site. U. S.Highway 125 runs through the site. When you enter they have your vehicle, tag number and number of occupancy. You are told not to stop and if you break down stay in your car because their security patrols will be close by to help you. Leathal force is authorized because of stored nuclear material on site.
I had several friends who worked there in the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. They are all deceased, we would drive to Jackson to play golf on the Jim and Lill Golf course on most Saturdays when it wasn't cold.
I am hoping for the truth to be told.
We who live within the plants footprint need to know if a release occurred or not. First protect all civilians telling the truth if the can be told. In addition the Plant Vogal nuclear power station has 4 active reactors going 24/7 giving us good power rates. The rates are frozen for the next 3 years.
So we wait for the D.O.E, DOW, and state to get their stories together and tell us. Would be nice to know how the employee who was in lab when the fire started is doing in the hospital.

WEEKLY REVIEW β the market asked AI for receipts, and the tape delivered: GOOGL's record drop, INTC -29%, AMZN -7%. Our cash-flow frame survived the week. The scorecard, what changed, and what midterms + jobs mean for December. $SPX
Fifteen reads across three screens, one through-line: the market stopped pricing AI growth and started pricing AI cash flow. Calls: GOOGL Neutral after its crash β lower-middle of a $251-$372 range; INTC, $26 fair value vs a $65 price; AMZN, $178 vs $240; one Outperform, SNDK, $2,500 vs $1,151.
What hit: the frame. GOOGL -12.64% Thursday, a record one-day drop; INTC -29%; AMZN -7% premarket on a -$42B trailing cash-flow print β the tape graded cash, as we read it. GOOGL Neutral closed the loop: shares near $280, in range. RDDT fell 29%. Friday's morning flip call half-hit: the Dow slid (-1.09%), ECI wages printed cool (+0.7%), so risk-off never triggered β buyers showed up, AMZN closing -2% after -7%.
What missed: SNDK, our one Outperform, fell 13% on a blowout β the tape disagreed. And INTC, after -29%, still trades ~2.5x its $26 fair value. What changed: the 10-year fell to 4.93% (-36bp in October, lowest in a month); December-hike odds trimmed ~85% to ~71%. October was a rotation: Nasdaq ~-5%, worst month since March 2025, vs Dow +1.7%, a 7-point gap last seen in 2022. Hard assets sat out: gold under $4,000 (-7% on the month), bitcoin a six-week low after the ~$6B theft β custody broke, not the protocol.
Next week: AAPL after Monday's close, its new CEO's first call; Tuesday the midterms (all 435 House seats, 35 Senate, control on the line), JOLTS at 10, AMD after the close; Uber Wednesday; October jobs Friday 8:30, the rate print, ~70% December hike priced. Open calls: do next week's reports extend the cash-flow grading, or does the defensive bid fade? What would flip our read: those defensive highs breaking β that's liquidation, not rotation.
