Seb here! An aspiring academic right now, soon applying to Masters programs. I'm interested in political economy, particularly with regulatory forms of governance and how these politics influence and impact what our governments can't, won't, and/or fail to do.

In a week when Coles, Woolworths, ComBank, Qantas & Ampol all reported huge profits, the ABS confirmed workers' real wages fell faster than any year in history. What gives??
It's called a 'profit-price spiral'.
Our new report explains what's happening: https://t.co/GfjUyS4FQd /2
Inflation would have stayed within or near the Reserve Bank target band if companies had not squeezed consumers through excessive price increases, our research shows. (1/2) #auspol
So our inflation is due to a profit-price spiral: companies are able to increase prices to protect or even increase their profits, while wages are going nowhere. The problem is that dealing with inflation has been left to the RBA and it only has one tool! Where's government?!

I still wonder why a President would need a former Chief Justice for the comparatively lowly position of Executive Secretary: what could an ex-CJ manage better for Chief Executive than any other lawyer? 🤷🏽♂️

Applying for visas is really a dehumanizing experience for the racial minority. Ofcourse, critics (and there are lots now against me) will say "she's so entitled!" If you're okay w/ still paying the price of colonialism, go ahead, but let me feel the rage of my weak passport.
How can we create a more sustainable & equitable higher education system for the whole university community?

Pretty ugly that the family thought they deserved a lavish break, considering what most Filipinos are suffering right now.
But then also pretty Imeldific philosophy of governance “so that poor Filipinos will have a star to look at from their slums.”
Empty boasting.
Only reason is that a few rich folks like Marcoses at top of the heap of PH inequality are getting so much richer and dragging the average up..
... while the poor majority are left further behind.
