@ku1deep @ganeshsonawane @ChanakyaShah I haven’t had to wear in my Lunas for this through close to a decade of use. I rarely run in them but I’ve walked a lot on bad roads & done some trekking. I don’t have a callus between my toes + I’ve been able to get back to regular use immediately after breaks of several months.

@cruisemaniac @sahilk @unitechy @Chethan_Ram I believe 6061 is an aluminium alloy, 4130 is perhaps the most common chromoly used for bicycles. The nicer steel bikes we’re talking about here are usually chromoly.

@sahilk @unitechy Indeed! I’m happy with my Scolarian - it’s a custom single speed commute and mild off road/gravel kind of bike. They have since added some dedicated gravel bikes to their offerings in Reynolds double butted CrMo steel.

9. I don’t believe one needs a heavy duty bike/thick tyres/shock absorbers for commute in Bangalore.

@sahilk @kumar_abhijeet3 6.Backpacks transfer less shock to gear inside (body absorbs shock), keep things away from splashes, eliminate hassle of loading/unloading. Panniers are more comfortable. If you plan to ride in rains, get quality rain protection for the bag.
7.Beat the traffic - start early.
