Launch #2 of the day by my team: @Cloudflare K2. Durable event streams on the Developer Platform. Built on top of R2. Scales to huge quantities of data with very cheap long-term retention. Available today as a public beta: https://t.co/V5njHALGHn
The Cloudflare Data Platform has been in beta for the past year and has helped amazing companies like @anomalyco ingest, store, and query their analytical data. Today, for @Cloudflare Birthday Week, we're going GA. And we have a new name: Cloudflare Basin.
Cloudflare K2 is a serverless event streaming service built directly on top of R2 object storage for high-scale data movement and long-term retention. By decoupling producers and consumers at the edge, K2 enables durable, ordered log streams without the operational overhead of traditional broker clusters. https://t.co/Avob0fM4S9 #BirthdayWeek
Apache DataFusion Community Showcase Vol. 4 ๐ฃ
Thursday, August 20th at 9:00 am PST on Zoom - featuring @jeromeschneider of Cloudflare R2 SQL and Tobias Schwarzinger of RDF Fusion.
1) "Building R2 SQL on DataFusion"
R2 SQL is Cloudflare's serverless, distributed, analytics query engine for Iceberg catalogs. This talk presents how R2 SQL integrates @ApacheDataFusio and Datafusion Distributed over Cloudflare infrastructure, and some of the challenges faced to make it work.
2) "Graphs, Piecewise Functions, and Apache DataFusion"
Tobias' reserach group at @tu_wien investigates the use of graph data in IoT use cases. Often, you find that you must combine knowledge about the system (which is stored in graphs) with the run-time data from sensors in a single query. To enable both types of data to exist within a single query engine, RDF Fusion implements SPARQL, while PolyArrow implement querying over "piecewise signals" (i.e., instead of treating a time series as points the interpolation strategy is part of the data model). Both are prototypes based on DataFusion. This talk will cover the fundamentals, then how we build on DataFusion, some workarounds that we need to employ, and give an outlook on how we could combine these two efforts.

Russia killed a family with 8 children with 'Zircon' missile in Radushne village near Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine.
Right now six people are confirmed dead: parents Artem and Olena, their two sons aged 11 and 17, their 6-year-old daughter and baby grandson aged year-and-half.
Four more children are still searched under the rubble. Artem and Olena had 10 children. Their elder son serves in Armed Forces of Ukraine. Another son and daughter are abroad.
I don't know what to say at such moments.
That Russia is a fucking scum-state? That there's never been more evil in XXI century then Russia? That ISIS, HAMAS and Taliban look insignificant comparing to Russia (first of all by the scale of crimes committed)? This all has become so banal after four and half years of the war.
I believe I just have to speak out of this murdering and address to the West once again.
Dear West, on whose values we were brought up and whose moral guidelines and ideology, despite all the caveats, are still the most progressive and humanistic of all the humanity has created.
Dear West, while you were greeting the sunrise today, drinking coffee, going jogging, planning your day, Russia killed 8 children and their parents with direct missile strike.
Dear West, Ukraine is unable to make it through this war on its own. Not because Ukraine is weak, but because it has 4 times less population.
Dear West, we know how you got tired of bad news and how you want to live your best life. But there won't be ANY life until evil is defeated or at least stopped.
Dear West, please, get to know that 8 Ukrainian children were killed today with their parents by terrorist Russia. Let that sink in. And think about what you did, and what you DID NOT to stop it.
@CodeWithZeee @mscccc@PlanetScale@Cloudflare There was an incident on the Cloudflare billing eng side . Unfortunately you were caught during the impact window which lasted for a couple of hours. It should be resolved by now. Sorry for the late reply.
\5 That's why I'm so excited with where we landed (after a huge amount of work! pricing is hard). Transparent per-GB pricing for streaming transformations (4c/GB) and data ingested (6c/GB), and for data scanned for R2 SQL ($2.50/TB).

\1 We recently announced GA pricing for the @CloudflareDev Data Platform, our R2-backed real-time data lake, which has been free during beta. But beyond the actual numbers, I want to talk a bit about our pricing philosophy
Happy Friday! JOINs, subqueries, and multi-table queries have *ahem* joined @CloudflareDev R2 SQL!
I can't overstate how impressive the work @jeromeschneider and Sergio Estevez did to make JOINs work on Cloudflare infrastructure.
Check it ๐ https://t.co/43NwOVxtRi
And let us know what you think! We already have improvements in the works to make these run even faster ๐
๐ข New ship alert! We just made it a whole lot easier to connect to a database in an external network:
1. Select the Cloudflare Tunnel
2. Specify the IP/hostname/port
3. Enter your credentials
That's it! Hyperdrive integrates with Workers VPC under the hood to connect securely
