Milton Friedman: “Keep your eye on one thing and one thing only: how much government is spending, because that’s the true tax.”
“If you’re not paying for it in the form of explicit taxes, you’re paying for it indirectly in the form of inflation or borrowing.”
Good morning!
As promised… posting every day until the whole of Australia has seen it.
Show your friends.
Share it round.
Watch it again.
Oh… and for the rest of the world? Have pity on us. It’s our Finance Minister.
What if Cardano became the backbone of global agriculture?
The 5am earth proposal could bring:
2M+ monthly active users
7–10M monthly transactions
Up to $1.2B in ecosystem contribution
All driven by real farmers, real commodities, and real agriculture workflows on Cardano.
This is what mainstream adoption looks like.
The market (and current DRep levels of support for business development and marketing) certainly will purge them. Your response suggests you've never been to an IRL business event for the purpose of conducting business. More fruitful connections come from 15m in person than you will ever receive from dozens of hours in a zoom call.
This attitude will leave us surrounded by a technological cathedral built in the middle of an inhospitable desert with no roads leading to it. Sure, there will be the occasional urban explorer who makes the trek for engagement and curiosity, but the majority of people will drive on by, never realizing why there's even an off ramp out here in the middle of nowhere.
@PaddyCTO The ecosystem is objectively NOT getting bigger because we're throwing all of our money at tech nice to haves without anyone interested in using it
TBH, IDK. If I was sitting on $100M USD worth of reserves I certainly wouldn't be asking the community to foot the bill at bear market lows, even if the event truly cost $2M+, particularly not if I thought it would legitimately pump all our bags. Maybe a Treasury withdrawal to support sponsoring the builders and dApps to attend said event
Idea for @Cardano_CF: I'm hearing/seeing that you already paid deposits on your space for the dates and times you told us the summit would be held, this year, in Singapore, around the time of Token 2049 (Oct 5-6 iirc). Do it. Charge for booths, get sponsors, charge for tickets. Provide sufficient proof of both spend, attendance, sponsorship, and at least some outcomes... Then ask us to reimburse you the difference. If a $1M USD/day event is truly worth it, then surely you are well capitalized enough to prove it to the community and get reimbursed on the backside, just like all FEs ask people attending conferences and events on their behalf to pay for their own airfare, hotels, and lodging and get reimbursed afterwards.
Our C4💥proposal explained.
I had a conversation with some dedicated Cardano peeps at a Meetup in London, hosted by @DiscoverCardano today, about the Cardano Content Creators Consortium proposal.
This is a recording & breakdown of the stream and presentation 👇
@adamKDean@CashAnvil@yeaookk@hoskytoken Yep, just referencing it in regard to my thinking. // I agree re the higher level concerns and how solve as community.
@adamKDean@CashAnvil@yeaookk@hoskytoken To me you’re decentralised/permissionless or not — someone or thing should not have their rights removed to vote with their ada, just because of where they are employed.
We have nerds and scientists, gamblers and degens, business people and brokies. Of course, at times, our different priorities will come to loggerheads. Not everyone will see eye to eye, but in that tension lies our greatest strength. We are all in the Cardano community.
I think @IOHK_Charles' greatest achievement is not the technology or network(s).
It's the people he has connected by taking the time to articulate his vision through the whiteboard presentation. 🙏
Everything else is a bonus amidst the noise.
