My husband was hoping he’d come back as they got into a good conversation about St. Cuthbert and wanted to continue it. Just feeling a bit sad he felt he couldn’t be honest that he was coming from our local ACNA church, when my husband went and did the same thing recently.
Apparently an ACNA YouTuber came to our church a few weeks ago, and made a video about whether or not TEC is ‘as bad as they say’. my husband and I talked to him at coffee hour, sort of sad to know he viewed it as ‘infiltrating’ as opposed to just visiting.
a fun anecdote is that at our episcopal campus ministry we have an absolutely unhinged number of virgos. literally 50% of our cohort have birthdays within two weeks of each other (me included)
@TheModernist_CA I've found unfortunately a lot of those who hold this view care far more about our stance on social issues than anything else. It's one thing to not want to accept communion from a female priest (understandable even if i disagree) vs calling the whole church null and void.
Happy Anniversary of J.R.R. Tolkien’s passing.
“When autumn came, he knew that part at least of his heart would think more kindly of journeying, as it always did at that season.”
@dogslovecranmer@AP_Farrell my husband recently visited our local ACNA church and when he mentioned he was visiting from TEC the reaction at coffee hour was “oh good, at least HERE we ACTUALLY believe in the Bible”. he went with a genuine curiosity, and left with a very bad taste in his mouth. a shame!
and for the lady, perhaps a candelabra, a sheer billowing nightgown, a decrepit mansion crumbling under the weight of its own secrets, and a misunderstood creature ostracized for their perceived monstrousness?
I go among trees and sit still.
All my stirring becomes quiet around me like circles on water.
My tasks lie in their places
where I left them, asleep like cattle.
Then what is afraid of me comes and lives a while in my sight.
What it fears in me leaves me,
and the fear of me leaves it.
It sings, and I hear its song.
Then what I am afraid of comes.
I live for a while in its sight.
What I fear in it leaves it,
and the fear of it leaves me.
It sings, and I hear its song.
After days of labor,
mute in my consternations,
I hear my song at last,
and I sing it. As we sing,
the day turns, the trees move.

@Franciscus_AD some just underline relevant or favorite verses, others might make connections to other books/epistles/note OT/ NT fulfillment. alternatively, grab a New Oxford Annotated Bible if you want a really well annotated/academic version to keep alongside a personal one : )
@dogslovecranmer some people really need to read 'homoeroticism in the biblical world: a historical perspective.' really excellent book on the differences between what writers in that time were talking about when they meant 'homosexuality' vs what it means today!
