Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani welcomed H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, at Parliament House, Islamabad, where both sides held comprehensive discussions on strengthening Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations, promoting the unity of the Muslim Ummah, advancing global peace, and enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The Chairman Senate reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering commitment to dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution, while emphasizing greater cooperation in trade, investment, education, scientific research and youth development among Muslim countries. He also highlighted the success of the recent Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference in Islamabad as a milestone in strengthening parliamentary diplomacy across the Muslim world.

Dr. Al-Issa acknowledged Pakistan's constructive role in promoting regional and global peace, particularly appreciating its diplomatic efforts to help ease recent Iran–United States tensions through dialogue. He commended Pakistan's commitment to religious harmony, moderation and peaceful coexistence, describing it as a respected and influential voice in the Muslim world.

Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further deepen Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations, strengthen cooperation with the Muslim World League, and work together for peace, stability and the shared interests of the Muslim Ummah.

🇵🇰🤝🇨🇳 Acting President reaffirms Pakistan-China friendship

Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani today addressed a special commemorative seminar organised by the Pakistan-China Economic and Cultural Council (PCECC) to mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The seminar brought together senior Pakistani political leaders, parliamentarians, diplomats, policy experts and representatives of the Chinese Embassy to reflect on the global significance of Xi Jinping’s ‘Thought on Party Building’ and the enduring Pakistan-China partnership.

Addressing the seminar, Mr Gilani said China’s remarkable development under the leadership of the CPC reflects the importance of strong institutions, long-term planning and effective governance.

He said the CPC has demonstrated extraordinary institutional resilience over more than a century, leading China’s unprecedented economic transformation and lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty. He noted that these achievements have made a significant contribution to global development.

Mr Gilani observed that Xi Jinping’s ‘Thought on Party Building’ places emphasis on self-reform, internal accountability and a firm approach to corruption, adding that these principles offer useful insights for political parties and institutions, particularly in the Global South. He said durable institutions must remain accountable to the people, continually renew themselves and translate political stability into development that benefits ordinary citizens.

Reaffirming the enduring Pakistan-China friendship, the Acting President described the relationship as an Iron Brotherhood built on mutual trust, shared interests and strategic cooperation. He paid tribute to the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai in laying the foundations of the bilateral relationship.

He said Pakistan-China cooperation has expanded across defence, trade, infrastructure, education, health and cultural exchanges. He highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a major driver of regional connectivity and economic development and appreciated China’s steadfast support for Pakistan during natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Acting President said there is considerable potential for both countries to further deepen cooperation in trade, technology, clean energy and parliamentary exchanges. He also congratulated the organisers for holding the seminar and, on behalf of the people of Pakistan, extended warm felicitations to the CPC and the people of China on the occasion of the Party’s 105th founding anniversary.

The seminar featured addresses by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong and President of the Pakistan-China Economic and Cultural Council Bayazeed Burhanullah Kasi. The programme also included presentations highlighting the history and development of the Communist Party of China.

🇵🇰🤝🇭🇷 Acting President invites Croatian President to visit Pakistan, underscores stronger economic partnership

Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani today received Dr. Gordan Grlić Radman, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Welcoming Croatian Foreign Minister and his delegation, Mr Gilani described the first-ever visit of a Croatian Foreign Minister to Pakistan as a historic milestone in bilateral relations. He said Pakistan greatly values its longstanding friendship with Croatia, founded on mutual respect and goodwill and expressed confidence that visit would provide fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation.

The Acting President commended Croatia’s remarkable progress over past three decades and appreciated its important role in Europe and beyond, including as a member of the European Union and NATO. He noted that Pakistan remains committed to strengthening its engagement with Croatia, both bilaterally and within the broader framework of Pakistan’s partnership with the European Union.

Recalling that diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Croatia were established more than three decades ago, Acting President underscored importance of regular high-level exchanges and parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations. He encouraged the establishment of Pakistan-Croatia Parliamentary Friendship Groups to promote sustained interaction between the elected representatives of the two countries. He also extended a cordial invitation to the President of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Zoran Milanović, to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at mutually convenient dates.

Mr Gilani stressed the need to substantially expand bilateral trade and investment, observing that the existing trade volume remained well below potential of the two economies. He welcomed the growing presence of Croatian companies in Pakistan, including Infobip’s partnerships with leading Pakistani businesses and KONČAR’s contribution to Chashma Hydropower Project, expressing the hope that these would pave the way for more Croatian investments in Pakistan.

Highlighting Pakistan’s favourable investment climate, Acting President invited Croatian businesses to explore opportunities in information technology, renewable energy, agriculture, livestock, food processing, tourism and hospitality, urban development and water and waste management. He said the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) offers a streamlined mechanism to facilitate & support foreign investment.

The Acting President also emphasised the importance of facilitating the mobility of skilled Pakistani professionals, particularly in construction, transport and hospitality sectors, noting that Pakistani manpower has made valuable contributions to the development of many countries across the Middle East, Europe and North America. He said closer cooperation in this area would serve mutual interests of both countries.

Referring to regional connectivity, Mr Gilani proposed enhanced cooperation between Karachi Port and Croatia’s ports to facilitate greater trade with European markets. He also highlighted potential for expanding collaboration in education, sports and information technology, noting Pakistan’s rapidly growing IT sector and expressing hope that Croatia would benefit from Pakistan’s skilled and competitive digital workforce.

The Croatian Foreign Minister thanked Acting President for warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He reaffirmed Croatia’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Pakistan and expressed confidence that enhanced political dialogue, parliamentary exchanges and economic cooperation would further deepen the friendly relations between two countries.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular high-level contacts and working together to realise full potential of relations.

قائم مقام صدرِ پاکستان سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے زیارت میں بھارتی سرپرستی میں ہونے والے دہشت گرد حملے کی شدید الفاظ میں مذمت کرتے ہوئے 9 پولیس اہلکاروں کی شہادت پر گہرے دکھ اور افسوس کا اظہار کیا ہے۔
قائم مقام صدر نے کہا کہ دہشت گرد اپنے مضموم عزائم میں کبھی کامیاب نہیں ہو سکتے۔ پوری قوم، مسلح افواج، پولیس اور قانون نافذ کرنے والے ادارے دہشت گردی کے خلاف متحد اور یک زبان ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ دہشت گردوں کا انجام ہمیشہ شکست اور ہلاکت ہے اور ریاست پاکستان ہر قیمت پر دہشت گردی کا قلع قمع کرے گی۔
سید یوسف رضا گیلانی نے کلیئرنس آپریشن کے دوران 15 دہشت گردوں کو ہلاک کرنے پر سیکیورٹی فورسز اور پولیس کی پیشہ ورانہ صلاحیت، جرات اور قربانیوں کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ قوم اپنے بہادر محافظوں کے ساتھ کھڑی ہے اور ان کی لازوال قربانیوں کو ہمیشہ یاد رکھا جائے گا۔

Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani holds meetings at Aiwan-e-Sadr

Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani held separate meetings with religious, political and literary personalities at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.

Among those who called on the Acting President were Shahzada Murad Nazir, of Darbar Mohra Sharif, Murree, former MPA Mian Jhangir Pirzada Bhutta, Mr Faisal Sakhi Butt and Rao Waqas.

Mr. Gilani also met poet Mr Rahman Faras, who presented copies of his books to him. The Acting President appreciated his literary contributions and wished him continued success.

During the meetings, matters of mutual interest, the overall national situation and issues relating to public welfare came under discussion.

Mr. Gilani also referred to the forthcoming visit of the Secretary General of the Muslim World League (Rabita-e-Alam-e-Islami), Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, later this week. He expressed the confidence that the visit would further strengthen efforts to promote interfaith harmony and tolerance in the country.
