I'm a plant ecophysiologist who studies stress and mortality of plants due to water deficit and heat. I also design and build low-cost sensors/sensor networks.
How do encroaching oak species change microclimate and fuel drying conditions in longleaf pine woodlands? Check out Luiza Lazzaros new study on microclimate and fuel drying dynamics now out in @fireecology! @thejonesctr@aucfwe

Solar arrays create novel environments that uniquely alter plant responses.
We discuss how diurnal patterns of ψL and gsw provide mechanistic insight for the microenvironmental controls of ANPP!

Register for #PhysFest4 now! A wonderful way to meet other early-career ecophysioligists, and learn new methods. Attending #PhysFest2 during my own PhD was a life changing experience. I met my #PhysFam there and am excited to return again and teach at #PhysFest4 this October!
Side by side comparison of treatment effects. The left image is an untreated stand with very high mortality and burn severity. On the right is a previously rx burned stand (5 years ago) on the same wildfire - the two stands burned on the same day about 200 m apart.

@alan_knapp and I argue that co-prioritizing ecosystem services and energy using an ecologically informed, ‘ecovoltaics’ approach to solar design and operation has multiple benefits for climate, biodiversity and restoration of degraded lands.

Headed to #ESA2023? On Wednesday, join our special session on plant thermal limits and surviving heat waves in the Anthropocene, in room D135, from 1:30P-3:00P! After an overview & intros, this will be a "Town Hall" style session w/ panel, so please come add to the discussion!
Please RT and share: Now hiring Post-doctoral researcher OR Spatial Analyst! We are seeking motivated candidates with geospatial skills to work towards improving restoration in beautiful #longleaf pine forests @thejonesctr. Apps due Sept 15 https://t.co/2i2zXYFZyo

I finally realized my primary role as a scientist was really being a *writer*. And since I have obsessively tracked my #writing habit. If you're in #ScienceTwitter, try setting a goal to write at least 2 hours 4-5 times per week, it can work wonders!
The "trees talk" ideas triggered my last PhD chapter. I found the opposite of what they suggested. Glad to see scientists question the broadness of this idea.
