cause it's common in asia for couple to ask for their parents approval if they're in relationship, especially in an age gap relationship. Even if they both legal. May sound weird, but it's just the reality here.

"If it was legal" means "They should be at the legal age" which is 20 at that time. Not "if they lower down the legal age to 15"
