Google Discover is the biggest "SEO" opportunity of the past 10 years.
Yet, most SEOs know nothing about it. 🤷♂️
After generating more than 500 million visits through this channel, I’m sharing what I’ve learned in English for the first time.
Google Discover Thread, Episode #1, let's go!

Like/RT to encourage me to keep sharing 😇
🤝 #1 - Who am I?
First things first, let’s get acquainted.
- I’m Guilhem Chauvin, a French independent SEO and website publisher for over 10 years.
- Focused on Google Discover since 2021, Digital Nomad in Australia and Asia from 2022 to summer 2024. 🌏
Now back in Europe, I help brands and media outlets across all continents with visibility challenges.
👀 #2 - What is Google Discover?
Google Discover is Google’s personalized news feed on mobile, and more recently, on desktop in some countries.
Each user has their own feed, based on their interests. 🎯
The more you use it, the more it adapts to you. In fact, the more you use Google’s ecosystem (YouTube, Gmail, Chrome, Android...), the more tailored it becomes 😉 (we’ll come back to that).
- Each feed is unique, similar to social media. 🔄
- The articles shown are "fresh", meaning they were published just a few days or weeks ago… but they’re not necessarily "news" content! 🕐 (We’ll revisit this point as well.)
Is it a revolution? Not really. Yahoo's homepage in 2013 already offered a personalized article feed.
But what makes Google Discover different, and more importantly, such a golden opportunity for your visibility? 🏆
📈 #3 - Google Discover’s massive usage
Google’s strength lies in its ecosystem: thanks to its galaxy of super useful products that we all use daily, it can make us addicted to any service.
Google Discover is everywhere:
- Default presence in the Google ecosystem 🛠️
Shortcut on Android smartphones 📲
- No app to download 🚫
- No account to create 🚫
- Era of “doom scrolling” 📱
= 👉 MASSIVE usage
Most users of Google Discover don’t even know the name of the product! 🤔
Yet, I guarantee its usage is HUGE, regardless of the country… 🌍 (several million visitors PER DAY)
✨ #4 - Why should you care about Discover?
😃 The Fun Factor:
- A breath of fresh air compared to traditional SEO!
- Instant results ⚡: Your article can generate traffic within an hour of publishing. But beware, this requires significant prep work upfront (more on this later).
- Traffic not limited by search volume ♾️
- Many new and untapped niches 🔍
- A new playground to explore 🎮
🤑 The Money:
- Having fun is great, but making a living from it is even better! 💰
- Huge traffic potential 📈
- Mind-blowing visibility potential 🤯 (up to 10 million visitors per DAY in the USA…)
- …Some media outlets have already figured this out! 📰
Now that we’ve laid the groundwork, we’ll dive into the details over the next few weeks, breaking down the key pillars to succeed on Google Discover.

I sell my local newsletter ads for OVER $13,000.
And here's everything I've learned:
1. Package everything. Most local advertisers don't care about CPMs, Click Rate and so on. They want to understand everything in simple terms.
(So don't overcomplicate it)
2. The best form of sales is testimonials.
(More people buy, once they see bigger brands do advertising with you)
3. Exclsuvity sells. Some advertisers bought ads simply due to exclusivity and to block out their competitors from getting ads.
4. You can charge any amount if it makes the advertiser more money than they spend. (Target high LTV businesses)
5. Give value for free. Even if they can't advertise with you. See how you can help, because that will pay dividends in the long term.
Ask any questions you have below, and I'll answer all of them!

SEO = Search Engine Optimization
Not Google SEO.
You should learn how other search engines work, but don't pivot too hard.
Google is still the dominant search engine, and it's not even close.
That said:
Spend a small amount of time improving your SEO skills on platforms like:
⬩YouTube (most important)
⬩TikTok, X, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
⬩Amazon, Etsy, and eBay
⬩SearchGPT (coming soon) and Perplexity
Don’t let a drop in Pinterest traffic discourage you!
Sometimes, Pinterest tests you or it's a keywords trend change.
Keep posting consistently with experiments by changing pin formats & publishing time or running ads.
One way to get listed in AIO twice: your article is cited, plus your company's LinkedIn post about the article (with a short blurb about the article)
In general, posting on LinkedIn seems to be a great way to get in AIO right now.
The only SEO metric that really matters:
Organic search traffic inside of Google Analytics 4.
Everything else is noise.
Even data inside Google Search Console is often disconnected from reality.
How to Create an "Average Purchase Revenue" Report in GA4:
In GA4, the "Average Purchase Revenue" metric is calculated using the formula: 'Purchase Revenue' / 'Transactions'. This shows the average value of e-commerce transactions. However, since GA4 includes returns as transactions, it can skew your data.
To get accurate results, create an exploration report and apply a filter where the event name exactly matches "purchase"'. This ensures you’re only calculating based on real purchases.
Follow these steps:
1️⃣ Go to GA4 > Exploration
2️⃣ Click the plus symbol to create a new report
3️⃣ Import "Event name" & "Session default channel group" dimensions
4️⃣ Add Purchase Revenue, Transactions, and Average Purchase Revenue metrics
5️⃣ Apply a filter: Event name = "purchase"
SEO Tip: Focus on user intent over keyword stuffing. Google’s getting smarter every day—it's all about matching users with what they’re really looking for. Optimize your content to solve problems, not just rank! #SEO#SearchOptimization
