@RishiSunak The MICE (Meetings Incentive Conference & Exhibitions) industry must be given same benefit as all actors in the hospitality industry. This sector is capital for tourism as well as the flow of ideas and has received no benefit from Gov UK. It needs it to survive !!!
@RishiSunak Today's news is welcomed but when are you going to start supporting the Exhibition industry? It is a cottage industry where many small companies work 361d a year for 4 days of profit. Most of them would now foresee & fear a 2 year without income or support from UK gov
@RishiSunak
100% business rate exemption for the hospitality sector is great but why this measure is not extended to the conference/exhibition sector who has hardly seen any footfall since 03/20 and won't get any customer before 06/21. Please act b4 this industry is decimated.
@RishiSunak to save the economy, you need to spend taxpayer money in allowing people & Org to have access for free or a small fee(Abbott's costs $5)to rapid testing on a daily basis. And if negative to allow them resume life normally on THAT DAY: restaurants/travel/meetings, etc.
@RishiSunak also, why the conference and exhibition industry is getting no attention where we are the engine of business travel and creativity and we work 361 days for the 4 days of our events. All cancelled in 2020 and for some already in 2021.
@RishiSunak Are you sure the JSS is so great. With employers asked to pay 55% of staff salary for 33% worked. hourly wages would increase by 66% . How could this be sustainable for companies on their knees. What about employers paying 55% for 55% worked + 22% government help.
The human spirit never fails to amaze me. Amid this worldwide crisis, people are finding ways to come together in solidarity & joy. I'm really touched by the people of 🇮🇹 joining together in song from the balconies of their homes. Proud. This is how we will break the #coronavirus
Any death due to the #coronavirus is one too many. This smart piece by @mlipsitch makes very important points about the #COVID19 case fatality rate 👉 https://t.co/YBBtdXddIi
I also like how my colleague @mvankerkhove explained it at yesterday's press conference.
- When greeting people, best to avoid elbow bumps because they put you within 1 meter of the other person. I like to put my hand on my heart when I greet people these days.
It's been a very busy week for everyone. The world is fighting #COVID19 together as one. And yet life must go on. I hope everyone is taking rest this weekend. Here are some recommendations from @WHO
@kaihattendorf , Hey Kai love your campaign "This is show is open", great to see your organisation sticking their neck out. We are planning to launch our own campaign to support the travel & exhibition industry . It is is called #allinthistogether. I would love to meet/chat
“A whole-of-government approach”
And should we add
“All-of-stakeholders approach” ?
This is it. This is epidemic where we show that we care about society at large, about each other, about life and not just work or profits.
Time to step it up. Time to “Be Ready”
#COVID19
@DrTedros@DrTedros4WHO showed us the way with his positive message of solidarity against rumours, fears and stigmas but a simple idea coming from Vietnam (with no active cases of Covid 19) shows us what positivity/creativity can do #ghencovychallenge https://t.co/ee0HlRqf3z
@DrTedros@DrTedros4WHO inspired us all with his message of solidarity against fears, stigmas & rumours. WHO has a collaboration with TIK TOK to educate many about how prevent the spread of the virus but the #ghencovychallenge shows us what we can do when we use creativity.

We are seeing a Conservation revolution, whether it’s tigers in India or mountain gorillas in Virunga and Bwindi. That is cause for celebration. And therein lies the solution to global nature problems.
Looking for a lunchtime long read? I spent a week in #Gorongosa last year and wrote this for the @Independent:
