@LoamAndLight@tomhfh I would bet you would find young people that articulate in almost every state school in the UK. Maybe not enough, but they are there. The UK produces some amazingly talented young people and we shouldn’t forget that.
@anglofuturist Full mismanagement. In normal business, you quote and if you don’t deliver, you don’t get paid. Seemingly here, you under (or misleadingly) quote, don’t deliver then ask for more money?
@zi_zou00@schrutelad All the players we’re talking about wouldn’t start anyways. Would take players at cheaper prices if they are young or older and therefore happy to be second choice.
Happy to pay £20M for a 4th choice midfielder or use academy.
@zi_zou00@schrutelad £20M for a 4th choice midfielder is valid, we should be spending 0 on an academy product. How many 4th choice MF in the world cost £50M?
Dorgu £25M
Mazraoui £12M
Lammens £18M
These things are possible.
All those mentioned are 2nd/3rd choice- you don’t spend 60M for that
@jimb0_12 I wonder if the management are eyeing up Rehan Ahmed for Stokes (who surely can’t have long left) and will take 4 seamers + him.
Probably use a stopgap in between
@daisycutterzine@PeterDellaPenna 100% - I’m not trying to say stokes/root would be as recognised as Littler. But littler (maybe humphries, mvg) is a special case. I could imagine that buttler/archer/crawley wouldn’t be far off 4-10th current most famous darts players. Broad & jimmy also ofc
@premdebrief Could be fun if you have two attacking fullbacks. A bit like Liverpool w Trent & Robertson & have both midfielders somewhat shielding like Henderson & Fabinho.
Dorgu & Dalot maybe?
@TVsBuckBuckley@RoseEdmunds@aswren If anything it will widen the wealth gap (but not the income gap) - funnelling more profits to people who own the capital and less to upper management who don’t- who are usually upwardly mobile.
@tomhfh I would be interested to see a law that looks like, if you want to fire someone (outside of discrimination cases) you can, but you must pay X (3/4) months wages upfront- unconditional, you can get a job the next day if you want. Works for employees & employers.
@ettingermentum They are discovering from first principles the disenfranchisement of the majority of (especially young) people and are able to move quicker without a large base to pull with them. Ultimately, the immigration/remigration stuff will put enough people off, but a shift nonetheless.
