If you trace the messaging around masking it’s very clear this was the point of all of it. They needed things like masking and vaccination to be moral issues (those who do are Good, those who don’t are Bad) so that people’s rage could be misdirected.

The Protocol is not a result of Brexit, rather it is the barrier to Brexit given that it leaves Northern Ireland (a sovereign part of the UK) subjugated under EU law & the jurisdiction of EU courts.
