@AlaskaAir I arrived 5 hours early to the airport for AL 405 that was listed as delayed for numerous hours after arriving at the gate at around 4pm (almost two hours before the new time ) the flight left with zero notification to checked in passengers. Last text was and all airport monitors were a delay. On hold now for 2 hours with customer care. Comped flight only way around staying as a customer. Alaska has always been good I have never seen a flight listed as delayed for 5 hours then just leaves without notice. Stranded overnight. Significant business impact. This is unacceptable team.

Yes, but under that interpretation Trump would be barred under the 22nd amendment, wouldn't he? And logically, if he's sidestepped the 22nd he's effectively sidestepped the 12th (conceding that we can't predict what courts will do and that there is are strong arguments preventing circumvention).

Relying on the 12th Amendment as a safeguard against a third Trump term seems like having a backup generator that relies on grid power to start - once the 22nd Amdt loses its power, the 12th can no longer be switched on.

The 12th Amdt only blocks someone from being VP if they are ineligible "to the office" of POTUS. But the (admittedly dubious) argument for the 22nd Amdt loophole is that it bars only being *elected,* not serving again, meaning that Trump could be elected VP with the understanding that his running mate would resign, clearing a legal path for him to return to the presidency.

If that narrow interpretation prevails (and for the record, I don't think it will!), then Trump would, ipso facto, NOT be "ineligible to the office of President," meaning that the 12th Amdt would not bar him from becoming VP.

In other words, if Trump can legally sidestep the 22nd Amendment, the 12th Amendment will already have been sidestepped in the process.
