DA @chesaboudin wants us to believe he is data driven, but he retweeted below without understanding why the biggest percentage changes in murder rates were in the least populated areas.
But there’s NO evidence of this being due to red v blue politics. Violence went up more in many Republican-led counties than Democratic ones in CA. In fact, some of the biggest murder rate jumps were in small, rural areas of the state.

Now that we know that public health crises can be used to force people to do things they don't want to, can we force drug addicts into sobriety and treatment?
Fentanyl is devastating San Francisco, and city leaders have failed to control it. The death toll is staggering, and many of the city’s dead have been found within blocks of each other in the Tenderloin and South of Market.

How we reported this story: Reporter @TrishaThadani and photographer @stephenlamphoto spent a year immersed in the lives of those caught up in the fentanyl epidemic, seeking to understand why the opioid has swept so quickly through San Francisco.

@MattHaneySF Matt Haney promised to oppose the navigation center because it had 225 beds. He then turned his back on his constituents like he has many other times. Covid did what Haney could not by halving the size of the shelter. Vote for Matt if you like empty promises.
The nav center was a disaster until COVID changed it's purpose and halved its capacity. Now it has a stable population rather than one that turns over monthly. Before COVID there were drug dealers, syringes littered outside, urine all over, overdose death inside.
Remember the Embarcadero Navigation Center?
We approved it nearly 3 years ago, at the time it was one of the most controversial issues in SF, w opposition & lawsuits.
The Nav Center lease was renewed for another 2 years recently, w no significant neighborhood opposition.
@gerta_ma@chesaboudin The problem with the approach you advocate is there is no accountability. The seriously mentally ill are not getting institutionalized. Meanwhile everyone else is getting a break. Also prison is not just about deterrence. Other goals are reform, incapacitation and retribution.
@chesaboudin@SFDAOffice@SFVictimService I'm thinking there's a reason they're called "property crime advocates" instead of "victim advocates." Because these people will be advocating that victims drop charges.
Prediction: 1. He doesn't show up for his next court date.
2. Chesa drops charges saying he can't prosecute someone if the police can't bring him to court.
3. He's arrested for another crime. Chesa says no need to prosecute the old crime, just work on the new one.
4. Repeat.
@JustMrPhillips@chesaboudin Yes, so obvious that inequality is the root of crime... just look at Bernie Madoff, Ken Lay, Rajat Gupta, Elizabeth Holmes...
You must have seen multiple unreported shoplifting incidents in the last year, right. Oh, you live in DC. And you probably do your grocery shopping on a computer.
1. Claims by Walgreens and other corporations that San Francisco is facing an epidemic of "organized retail crime" is not reflected in citywide crime data.

@JuddLegum@chesaboudin Yes, stores are hiring extra security guards for hundreds of thousands a year because they read a false narrative on a far right website.
