Itโs 100% this. We went from singing Country Roads and Ella Langley at a World Cup that made everyone fall in love with all distinctly American parts of our daily life to reminding everyone why 90% of the global population hates us.
Overturning that red card made a really fun, talented team into The Bad Guys. They went from playing loose and free to timid and overwhelmed. Being the center of an international firestorm caused that.
@b_ranaan Honestly? I'm fine with this. Spain is very good and would deserve it. Plus I'll always remember this WC fondly for getting rid of the yanks anyway.
