@Big_Ez29@NHLtoAtlanta Not sure what that’s based on but every list of TV and sports markets I see has Atlanta and Huston in the top 10. Anyhow all the rumors have us coming in together with Atlanta joining the East and Huston the west. Also a lot more to it than just the city status.
@jseancox@FootballLoungee@AlwaysHalftime He's saying our best players should be being developed by our domestic league however other leagues our developing better American players.
@Big_Ez29@NHLtoAtlanta 42 & too young to know the story of the Flames but the Thrashers had inept owners. I can imagine it's hard to be in another hopeful city and see Atlanta get another crack but it's too big of market to ignore. No reason it can't work and the NHL has to try for the sake of growth.
@Jim_Lavelle@NHLtoAtlanta They had owners so inept they never won a playoff game & only had 1 good season. Why would fans show up? They built nothing but the 1 good year the building was packed. I've been to NFL & MLB playoff games and never experienced a better atmosphere than a Thrashers playoff game.
BREAKING: After a pending approval on June 11, Vernon Krause will meet with the NHL to provide completed documentation on the planned arena project.
In a recent Forsyth County News article, Carl Hirsh, Managing Partner at Stafford Sports, discussed the timeline of an NHL return to Georgia. The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners and other public stakeholders anticipate a vote on the final draft of the development and operating agreement in a special called meeting on June 11.
Following that approval, Vernon Krause will meet with the NHL to deliver the arena agreements and reiterate his desire for a team. It will be up to the NHL to decide how to proceed.
If the NHL is receptive, a team could possibly begin play in the 2028/29 season.
@BobAbercrombie3@NHLtoAtlanta Exactly the same? One is on the edge of the perimeter at the intersection of 2 major highways just outside of Atlanta and the other is 30 minutes north of there segregating fans from all around metro Atlanta.
@BobAbercrombie3 @TheGoobernius @NHLtoAtlanta Yet stadiums won’t land and money but cities shouldn’t get a piece. I’m also not suggesting it should be in downtown Atlanta but there are a few stops between that and Lake Lanier.
