@choreosequence Not finished but: Ruthanna Emrys “A Half-Built Garden” is beautifully written, funny, hopeful and smart.
Also enjoying Legs McNeil “Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk.” If you've ever wondered what happens when you *don't* enroll your kids in figure skating…
The worst part of every hobby is learning that there's a booming Nazi subculture within the hobby. And im pretty sure it's every hobby. Take up knitting, or cosplay, or gardening and it'll be two weeks before you find the ultra right wing nationalist knitters.
@jh_swanson “The Americans” - hard right anti-communist paranoia, but repeatedly hitting the sweet spot where the communist and anti-communist imaginations align: anti-apartheid, civil rights, Nicaragua… and done so well that it’s hard to imagine this was unintentional.
@RobCottingham It sounds dangerously close to being a double entendre. I'd let somebody else go first. At minimum, resist the temptation to add a multiplier number (double, triple, octuple etc) unless speaking to someone you know *really* well.
me forcing my cat to look at the screen while we watch alien (1979): do you see how ripley is able to save jonesy from the alien because he lets her pick him up and put him in a carrier?
My timeline is cheering that Naomi Wolf got banned for dangerously misleading people but when they share a screenshot it's her saying like "5G beams made my pet rat Bilbo VERY ANGRY AT ME: BETRAYAL!!!"... if that's dangerous maybe society just isn't going to work

#fortwood shippers aside, I’m not sure who this is supposed to appeal to.
Obsly we can only regard the opportunity to discover Margaret Atwood for the first time with unalloyed envy, but surely there must be other feel-good stories to be had somewhere in this province.
The current Premier of ON, Doug Ford, is a fan of Toronto Sun’s Brian Lilley and, last week, Ford stated that his wife (also a fan) cuts out newspaper articles by Lilley and keeps them.
Ford also had no idea who Margaret Atwood was.
Let that sink in.

Parents! As fall approaches, please remember that a pumpkin should never be carved. That’s a violent, heinous act. A pumpkin should be cherished and adorned with jewels, beautiful garments, and gifts.
