Mercury Has a Giant Tail! ☀️☄️ Mercury’s extreme environment creates a spectacular sodium tail. Solar radiation releases sodium atoms from the planet’s surface, while sunlight pushes them away from the Sun, creating a comet-like tail.
Shane Hennessy, origination and trading EMEA director at EirTrade Aviation, discusses how engine values and parts demand are driving earlier aircraft teardowns and the company’s plans to expand disassembly activities.

PTC getting acquired is the beginning of the forthcoming great CAD consolidation. what was once a steady source of defensible revenue is now easily reproducible. their moats are drying up
what to expect: the fully vertically integrated (owning their own kernels, etc.) companies like siemens and autodesk will be the only survivors in the short to medium term
dassualt in particular is incredibly vulnerable. autodesk has a research arm that will keep them alive by patent farm, and siemens is diversified enough that they can just bundle CAD with their offerings at near zero cost
autodesk will acquire dassualt. i know this will happen because it’s the funniest outcome of dassualt suing them in the early 00s. not only did autodesk win that lawsuit, they will win the game. they’ll undo the 3dx fiasco and delight catia and solidworks customers as a great steward of those applications
this will only be a temporary fix however. in ten to fifteen years autodesk will probably fall as well. here’s the crazy thing with AI and software: patents mean nothing when novelty is only $100 of tokens away
i think siemens will eventually acquire autodesk. hardware will be the only moat, and siemens and schneider have already built empires around it
buckle in. the future of engineering software is going to get very interesting
Introducing Adam Push, Electrical Engineer at Arena Physica!
Adam has over 17 years of experience developing electronic sensing and instrumentation systems for consumer electronics, medical devices, and defense applications. He joins us from Apple, where he spent nearly seven years shipping touch sensing modules across five Apple Watch products. Earlier, he designed power and instrumentation electronics for inertial guidance at Draper, and developed UV light disinfection technology at UV Light Care. Adam holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Northeastern University, and is a named inventor on three issued US patents.
"I love that I get to combine my hardware background with AI. We are all living through a unique time where AI is exploding in capability and thus opening up huge new opportunities to solve big problems. I am very excited to be working on a team at the frontier of that."

Starship V3 hot staging is fucking sci-fi.
Starting with Flight 12, V3 gets rid of the throwaway hot-staging ring. Now it’s basically an open truss built right into the top of the booster tank. One less disposable part.
And hot staging itself is crazy. Ship fires its engines before it even separates, so there’s basically no break in thrust between stages.
SpaceX said early on this could add around 10% more payload to orbit.
For Starship, 10% isn’t a small number. That’s roughly another 10 tons.
The Universe is a dusty place but that dust is essential to cosmic creation. ✨
Captured by NASA/ESA’s Hubble Space Telescope, these swirling clouds of gas and dust surround the Tarantula Nebula, about 160,000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud.
Cosmic dust helps form planets, cool gas clouds, create new stars, and even provides a surface for molecules to form. 🌌
A tiny ingredient with a huge role in shaping the Universe.

Pretty insane to see the first autonomous jets taking flight alongside the largest launch vehicle ever reaching orbit and delivering payload all taking place within the same ecosystem and time period. We live in special times.
