Yes — At that time, the government was under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Experienced leaders like George Fernandes, Yashwant Sinha, Jaswant Singh, Ram Vilas Paswan, and Nitish Kumar were part of that alliance.

The DMK used its political influence to keep that government in check and steer it towards a path of development. In that environment, it was not possible to push forward aggressive communal agendas like the Ayodhya Temple, UCC (Uniform Civil Code), or CAA.

After that, the DMK joined the Congress-led cabinet and implemented numerous welfare schemes for the people.

However, in the end, Congress shifted the political blame for the 2G issue entirely onto the DMK and distanced itself. Later, even after seven years of investigation, the court itself noted that not a single piece of solid evidence had been presented to prove the charges and acquitted A. Raja and others in the criminal case.

Even after that, during the period when the Congress was being ridiculed across the country as “Pappu,” the DMK did not abandon the alliance and protected the Congress from being politically buried.

But today, even after winning some seats in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections with DMK alliance votes, the Congress has not only left without any sense of gratitude — it is also being revealed from their own circles that they were working for other political forces even before the elections.

In such a situation, the Congress has no moral right to question the political integrity of the DMK.
In this context, it is inevitable that the lines of Bharathidasan — “Vanjamum soozchiyum vatratha kadalandro!” (Is it not an ocean where betrayal and conspiracy never dry up!) — come to mind.

கோயில்ல மட்டும் இல்ல, society-லயும் எல்லாருக்கும் equal உரிமை இருக்கணும்னு அர்த்தம்.

மேல் சாதி - கீழ் சாதின்னு மக்களைப் பிரிக்கிறதை தான் நான் ஒழிக்கணும்னு சொன்னேன்.

பெரியார் - அம்பேத்கர் - அண்ணா - கலைஞர் பேசின கொள்கைய தான் நானும் பேசினேன்.

நாங்க யாருடைய கடவுள் நம்பிக்கைக்கும் எதிரானவங்க இல்லை. ஆனா, Inequality-ஐயும், oppression-ஐயும் கடுமையா எதிர்ப்போம் .

'பிறப்பொக்கும் எல்லா உயிர்க்கும்'-னு வள்ளுவர் சொன்னது தான் எங்க வழி!
