Oklahoma City Council will vote on Tuesday on funds to improve the Cimmaron Road and Interstate 40 intersection that will facilitate Oklahoma’s first Buc-ee’s.

As we were first to report, the City has struck a preliminary deal to bring the popular travel stop to a site just within the city limits near Clarence E. Page Airport. The current Cimmaron exchange with I-40 was built for rural use and is not nearly robust enough to accommodate the heavy traffic typically generated by a Buc-ee’s location.

The agenda item for the next City Council meeting would approve a project agreement with CSMS Management, LLC for ‘congestion relief’ at that particular intersection.

CSMS Management is a real estate and management subsidiary owned by Arch "Beaver" Aplin III, the founder and CEO of the popular Texas-based travel center chain.

The agreement calls for CSMS to provide engineering design, environmental studies, and permitting. The City will be responsible for required environmental mitigation, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, and removal of encroachments.

After federal approval, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation will administer construction and inspection.

Funding for the road project will come from the City of OKC $7.578M, CSMS $6.05M, and ODOT $11.378M.

The City received a grant from Senator Mullin’s office for $10M, approved in the past federal budget.

No, Congresswoman. You are not “facing 17 years in federal prison for doing your job and standing up to Trump.”

That is not what the indictment says.

You were conducting congressional oversight at Delaney Hall. That part WAS your job.

But federal prosecutors allege that when officers attempted to arrest Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, you physically interfered with that arrest, struck one federal officer with your forearm, grabbed him, and used your forearms against another officer.

THAT alleged conduct is what produced the three federal charges carrying a combined statutory maximum of 17 years.

You have every right to contest those allegations. You are presumed innocent. You can argue the prosecution is politically motivated, challenge the evidence, challenge the officers’ account and make every constitutional defense available to you.

But “I am facing 17 years for standing up to Trump” is political legerdemain.

Opposition to Trump is not the charged offense.

Congressional oversight is not the charged offense.

The alleged physical interference with federal officers is.

Those are materially different statements, and Americans deserve the whole story.

Nature's Own says no artificial preservatives, but there's a preservative in it. The 100% Whole Wheat loaf lists it as cultured wheat flour. It does the same thing as the preservative in Wonder Bread.

A supplier makes it by fermenting wheat flour with bacteria, often a strain of the same species that puts the holes in Swiss cheese. As the bacteria grow, they make propionic acid. Then the flour is dried back into a powder. Propionic acid is the active part of calcium propionate, the preservative on the Wonder label.

A representative of the ingredient supplier told Baking Business last year that cultured wheat flour is basically calcium propionate. The claim on the bag holds because cultured wheat flour counts as a natural ingredient.

If a loaf says no artificial preservatives and still keeps on the counter, look near the end of the list for cultured wheat flour, cultured dextrose or vinegar.
