Excellent article from @DTWillingham on teaching reading comprehension, and in particular, why teaching reading comprehension strategies is useful, but not enough: https://t.co/MimNIM1ATV
Primary 3/4 were very excited to show Mr Wilson their Maths Week work. We had two brilliant marble runs experimenting with height, angle and momentum. Then an example of the budgeting task- to design a playground.
Well done! #MathsInMotion#MathsWeekScot
Some brilliant art & handwriting completed by P3/4 for our local Flower show, helping to bring the school and community together during our learning🖌️✏️✨ @MorebattleP#CommunityEngagement
As part of our efforts in school to mark the coronation we officially opened our new garden, had a picnic lunch, played games and danced together outside and created a coin trail- look how well it turned out. #Coronation@RoyalFamily@SBCEducation1
"Behaviour is communication" - but what does it say?
Children's behaviour can tell us a lot about their worlds & their needs - especially when it is behaviour we don't expect or want!
If we listen to it, and the info it contains, we can often learn how best to help
As part of our Scottish Heritage focus P3/4 made their (child-friendly) version of cranachan this week- we promise their was no whiskey in sight! They also discussed how to create a dairy-free alternative so that everyone could be involved.
P3/4 have absolutely loved creating fairy lights using keynote as part of @inspireSBC 12 days of Christmas! They even went home and added some lights to their dog too!🎅🏼🎄 @MorebattleP
Given this idea by my head this morning. We tried it out today and it’s slotted straight into our routine!! Chn tap the sound then say the sound as they walk past in their lines. I chose a sound the majority struggle with and will change daily! #Phonics#Review
Community Links at its best yesterday- the village flower show (the 129th year) featuring produce from school children including the chance to do extra at home. Brilliant to hear comments on the work of our children.
