Rob Pike wrote a complete regular expression matcher in about 30 lines of C
it supports ^, ., *, and $ using only recursion and pointer arithmetic
it's still one of the best introductions to how regex engines actually work
when I have to kill the long running session that has all the good info and a constructive back and forth because claude just starts getting context window dementia
Pieter, could I request a refund for photoAI? The auto refund page isn't working... it tells me I'm not eligible for a refund because I have created more than one model and generated more than 20 images, and then it tells me right below that that I have created one model and generated zero images. I'm sure this is just a random bug, but need your help to resolve. Thanks so much
Rational response, it's just that if the belief is important to us we should take the time and really self-evaluate over a semi-extended period of time, which gives enough time for the emotional association to die down slowly.
for arguing with other people well that's a hard one haha
@mattpocockuk Hey random q: do u find it faster to let the ai plan for you then you review, or you propose a good architecture first then the ai grills? I find the second better but curious on ur thoughts, maybe i'm not using it right.
@evanlapointe I think this is a great example where understanding why something works lets you navigate it a lot better than simply recognizing what good looks like and trying to emulate it blindly (level 1 vs level 3 in your levels of thinking post).

@evanlapointe Ahh ok I misread your original tweet.
Right reason for *building products* = help the customer.
Product is easier when you genuinely care about the customer.
Promotion is harder because... you're more reluctant to overstate the benefits of the product?
Right reason = hard because we care more, and we want it done right.
Another right reason = hard because we see what the customer can't (vision), and that necessarily means it's hard because we have to teach customers how to see the problem in our pov.
Wrong reason = hard because we tunnel vision and can't step outside ourselves, or because of ego.
Thoughts?
