Imagine a coworker/friend of yours needed CPR for 9 minutes in your office and then after your boss was like - take 5 minutes, everyone. and then get back to work.
That's basically what the NFL just tried to do. Total garbage.
No pulse means no blood flow so max 4 minutes before irreversible brain damage but if you do CPR, then it should be started within 6 minutes MAX of a person having a sudden cardiac arrest. For every 60 seconds that pass, chances of surviving drops by 10% without CPR or defib.
After just 4 minutes, brain damage begins to occur. After 10 minutes, it is unlikely they can be saved. EMS response times are often 12-14 min which is why waiting for them to arrive is far too late in most cases. Providing CPR as a bystander can triple chances of survival.
i look up damar hamlin on twitter as someone who’s simply fucking scared and i see republicans blaming the vaccine. grow up. have some fucking respect. not everything is political.
As a physician I believe Damar Hamlin was likely suffering from commotio cordis where a blow to the chest at a precise moment in the electrical cycle stops the heart. Those trying to tie this to vaccine status to project their unscientific beliefs are terrible, horrible people.
@FOX19Joe@ArifHasanNFL If you watch the video the bengals player ran into Damar’s chest inducing an arrhythmia which causes reduced blood flow to the brain and he fell unconscious. He could have went into PEA ( pulse electrical activity ) due to direct trauma to the heart
@JGSneakerBeast@DGlaucomflecken If your loved one had CPR administered for 10+ minutes and was wheeled off in an ambulance after a round of backyard football, would you finish the game? Because that’s how champions think? Have a heart. This is a person, not a puppet for your entertainment.
@DGlaucomflecken@DahmHayden The #NFL needs to put their money behind their mouth when it comes to mental health. Asking the Bills and Bengals players to come back on the field and not allowing them to process their personal feelings and fears would be insensitive to their mental needs. #MentalHealthMatters
Whenever the league talks about player safety we should all remember that the NFL tried to make the players warm up for five minutes and restart this game before the coaches stepped in
