Police stop a car, extort the driver for a hefty bribe, and order him to call a friend to bring cash for his release at Modika checkpoint on the outskirts of Garissa.
The friend arrives, a dispute over the amount ensues. A cop named as Kyalo then kills him. @kipmurkomen@IPOA_KE
@MPDrAbib@USForeignAssist Such narratives are commonly used to
- Damage government legitimacy
- Inflame public anger
- Undermine trust in institutions
- Weaponize humanitarian aid for political pressure. They rely on emotional shock rather than verifiable facts.
@USForeignAssist Claims about humanitarian aid must be verified through WFP or UN channels. WFP maintains strict custody & trackng of donor food and any diversion or destruction wld be formally reported by WFP itself. Without independent confirmation this claim remains unverified and fabricated.
For years, fellow citizens have spent countless hours trapped in relentless traffic along the Western Corridor, especially on the 175km Nairobi-Mau Summit road section and the 58km Nairobi-Maai Mahiu-Naivasha stretch that winds through the treacherous Kikuyu Escarpment.
Beyond the daily inconvenience, these roads have been scenes of heartbreaking tragedy.
The horror crashes along the corridor have claimed thousands of lives over the years, shattering families, ending dreams, and robbing our nation of immense potential.
In 2024 alone, 284 people died on the two sections of the corridor and 168 in 2023, losses that are both devastating and unacceptable.
Today marks the beginning of a new chapter. At Kamandura, Kiambu County, we have launched the dualling of these critical roads, a transformative $1.54 billion (KSh200 billion) investment that will finally bring an end to the gridlock, danger, and inefficiency that Kenyans have endured for far too long.
This monumental project will ease movement to the Western region of our country, strengthen regional connectivity, and stimulate trade and economic activity within Kenya and across our borders.
We are taking a decisive step toward building a safer, more efficient, and more prosperous nation for every Kenyan.

#BREAKING: “You’re making the ground shake!” UN Security Council hears as mid-morning #earthquake interrupts briefing on the situation in the Middle East.
@WilliamsRuto Under your visionary leadership, Kenya can rise as a donor nation for Africa. I propose the Kenyan Mixed Socialist Market Economy (KMSME) a homegrown model blending public investment, cooperatives & private innovation to uplift marginalized regions & empower youth.

With respect, collaboration without accountability is complicity.
Garissa suffers: no water, no drugs, no justice. Rapists shieldedCorruption normalized. UN & partners must choose, build with the people or legitimize those destroying them.

Governor, you don't need Saudi investment in Garissa. You receive a staggering Kshs 15 billion a year from the Central government...that is Kshs 120 billion (US $1 BILLION) for the 8 years are in office...
Garissa County receives billions annually through equitable share allocations and conditional grants, yet the absence of tangible development on the ground is both glaring and indisputable.
Upon assuming office, Governor @Nathif_J_Adam Jama dismissed over 3,000 county staff, a move that saved Shs. 375 million. One would expect such cost-cutting, the billions from the equitable share combined with an own-source revenue of approximately Sh100 million every month, to translate into better services. Instead, Garissa town is in a state of steady decline. Residents lack access to water, hospitals are dysfunctional and starved of basic medical supplies, and the agriculture and livestock sectors, the backbone of our local economy, have been left to rot. Meanwhile, the streets are littered with uncollected garbage, a daily testament to the county’s chronic neglect.
To make matters worse, the Governor has announced the creation of municipalities that exist only on paper, just empty bureaucratic shells with no infrastructure, no staff, and no services. ECDE centres and vocational training institutions are dilapidated and underfunded, while county employees remain demoralised and unmotivated.
Garissa County today is a textbook example of failed leadership and gross mismanagement.
Lawyer @ahmednasirlaw was absolutely right to speak the bitter truth, and the truth does not change simply because it is inconvenient to some. Governor Nathif Jama, whose tenure has been defined by foreign trips and incompetence, must be held to account. Leadership is not about globe-trotting in search of more funds to misappropriate; it is about delivering results with the resources already at hand.
Nathif Jama should hang his head in shame
@WilliamsMkenya Today, I salute H.E. Dr. William Ruto you're steering Kenya in the right direction with the right team. Delivering what others couldn’t in 60+ years. Keep up the excellence, Sir!

Irrigation is a key pillar of our food security value chain. Our plan is to ensure increased agricultural production and productivity to feed the nation.
We are building on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Kenya and the United Arab Emirates to initiate development, including irrigation projects, that impacts the lives of Kenyans.
Witnessed the signing of an MoU with Abu Dhabi's Al Dahra to expand the Galana-Kulalu irrigation project.
Chaired a Special Cabinet meeting at @StateHouseKenya, Nairobi, where we deliberated on the government’s economic priorities, focusing on sustaining growth, ensuring fiscal stability, and promoting inclusive green development.
To maintain economic momentum, we will prioritise lowering the cost of living, eradicating hunger, creating jobs, expanding the tax base, improving foreign exchange balances, and fostering inclusive growth.
These will be achieved through strategic investments in key economic sectors, strengthening production and market access, and attracting local and foreign investments.
