Funny how everyone rushed to post Neymar and Ronaldo in tears, yet Salah didn’t get a single tribute. The disrespect towards one of football’s greatest icons is genuinely unbelievable.
@tariq_puma Life is not fair. Rule based order is out the window even in the sporting world. One needs to be ferocious and vicious in today’s world to survive with even an ounce of honor.
As Pakistan's second PhD in American Studies, a Fulbright Fellow, and an alumnus of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), I am honoured to extend my warmest congratulations to the American people on the 250th anniversary of the United States. Over two and a half centuries, the United States has distinguished itself through its enduring commitment to liberty, democracy, innovation, and opportunity. Its exceptional journey has profoundly shaped the modern world. From its decisive contributions to the Allied victories in the First and Second World Wars to its leadership during the Cold War in defending the international order, America has played a defining role in advancing global peace, security, and prosperity.
Pakistan and the United States have likewise built a resilient partnership spanning more than seven decades. Together, our two nations have stood shoulder to shoulder during some of the most consequential strategic challenges of the modern era, from the Cold War to the global fight against terrorism. While the relationship has experienced periods of convergence and divergence, it has consistently demonstrated the resilience to adapt to changing geopolitical realities. Today, shared interests in regional stability, counterterrorism, economic cooperation, and technological advancement continue to provide a strong foundation for an even more forward-looking strategic partnership.
As the Middle East enters a new phase following the Iran conflict, the United States once again has an opportunity to help shape a more stable regional order through diplomacy and responsible leadership. Pakistan welcomes efforts aimed at reducing tensions, encouraging dialogue, and preventing further conflict. As longstanding partners committed to peace and regional stability, Pakistan and the United States can continue working together to promote security, foster mutual understanding, and contribute to a more peaceful and prosperous world. Congratulations once again to the United States on this historic milestone, with best wishes for continued peace, progress, and success in the years ahead.
The celebrated Seraiki poet Ashu Laal wrote his epic poem, Sindh Sagar Naal Hamesha (Always with the River Indus), in two volumes more than thirty years ago. The book is an expression of devotion, celebration, and loss associated with this civilizational river. In this passage, he addresses the Indus directly:
“River, O River, your waters are deep.
You are our father and mother; we are your fishlings.”
Indians have completely lost the plot. We have long called ourselves Ajam, meaning non-Arabs. As Ajami Muslims, we are inheritors of the great Persianate civilization, a legacy that India has disowned because of its own insecurity and inferiority complex.
And yes, we are the Indus Valley. The waters of the Indus flow in our blood; its beats and rhythms regulate our lives.
