IMPORTANT: PK WINS!! 29 out of 31 rounds done, @PrashantKishor now leads by close to 20,000. There are conspiracy theorists who say that BJP let PK win to show elections are free and fair and at the same time pull RJD down. Rubbish! Prashant has worked incredibly hard on the ground since losing assembly elections in November last year. Message is clear: yes, there is NO level playing field, yes, SIR exercise has thrown up several troubling issues BUT against the odds, maidan main bane raho so that when voter seeks change or is angry/anxious, she may reward those who stand and resist. Whichever way you look at it, this is a significant defeat for the Samrat Chaudhary-led Bihar govt and yes, for the national BJP president, Nitin Nabin in a bastion.
BJP is clever enough to surely read the writing on the Bankipur and Datia wall. So should opposition parties. No one can take voters for granted ever. #Bankipur 🙏
*Protest in 2026 still need songs from 2006*
I am seeing a volley of Swades Suite reels on insta and I have an observation. Every political reel seems to have the same soundtrack.
Roobaroo. Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera. Kandhon Se Milte Hain Kandhe. I think Yuva needs to be in there somewhere. Dhaka Laka Bukka — these were songs my generation grew up on and it gave us this peculiar invincible feeling that we could change the country. It’s 2026. And we’re still borrowing our patriotic/kranti songs from 2003-06.
Which is odd. Because isn’t Bollywood going through its most nationalist phase ever? That’s the one thing we seemed to have produced in abundance over the last decade. Yet no songs that speak for this ‘ghar main ghus ke mara’ era that actually become anthems for young people.
Maybe that’s because the best anthems weren’t about celebrating a government. They were about loving a country, questioning it, arguing with it, and wanting it to be better.
That’s why Swades and Rang De Basanti still hit. 20 years later, we still need them when we want people to wake up.
PS: Millennials may please type in their fav song from 2003-2006. It’ll greatly help my nostalgia trip 😌
Mayor of New York - Zohran Mamdani
Mayor of Mumbai - ???
Mayor of Bengaluru - ???
Mayor of Chennai - ???
Indians know more about the Mayor of New York City than about the Mayor of their own cities.
Unelected Babus are running our cities than elected representatives
Even the Communist China isn't this Centralized the way Democratic India is and it is hampering our growth and progress
One thing India desperately needs is Decentralisation of decision making and empowerment of Cities
It's Sigmund Freud's birth anniversary. I was quite blown to discover that Freud, Hitler, Stalin, Leon Trotsky and Josef Tito all lived in the same 2 mile radius in Vienna at the same time, 1913!
Thinking yeh hai kisi bhi field mai . Soch lo samaj lo clear ho jao decision lo aur sab bhool ke aage badho and topi se yaad aaya topi khud pehno kisi ko pehnao nahi na kisi ko pehnane do.
Journalist: King Charles will be in New York. What will you say to him?
Mamdani: I would highly encourage him to return the Kohinoor Diamond if I were to speak with him
Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.
Unfortunate that President Murmu has given her assent to the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill 2026.
The Act is now one of the most regressive pieces of legislation on transgender rights in the world. To see India reverse decades of progress is shameful.
In Gaza, #WestBank & East Jerusalem, Palestinians are subjected to a continuum of suffering - @FranceskAlbs denounces torture of Palestinians, says it extends beyond Israeli prison walls. “There is no refuge. No safe place to exist.” @UN_HRC#HRC61
