YouTube's compression does screw up the quality a lot. I've uploaded the H.265 codec version and still looks like 480p.

Accidentally uploaded at 3AM because I forgot to schedule it properly.

Became my best performing video of the month.

I always heard you need to upload at "prime time" - between 2PM and 8PM when everyone's online.

So I'd stress about timing everything perfectly. Set alarms, schedule uploads and optimize for peak hours.

This one time I screwed up the scheduling and it went live at 3AM while I was asleep.

Woke up to it already at peak views.

Ended the month as my top performer. Beat every "perfectly timed" video I posted.

Started digging into WHY.

Turns out 3AM uploads actually have less competition.

Everyone's posting during prime time fighting for attention.

At 3AM?

YouTube's looking for fresh content to show people and there's barely anything new.
Plus the algorithm doesn't care when you upload. It cares about how people respond when they DO see it.

A video uploaded at 3AM can get shown at 3PM to someone's feed if it's performing well.

Now I don't stress about upload time at all. Sometimes I post at 2AM and sometimes 4PM. Doesn't matter tbh.

The content quality matters. The timing? Basically irrelevant.

Been told the "rules" about when to post my whole life.
One mistake proved they're all made up.
