In today's #MannKiBaat, Adarniya @narendramodi ji highlighted about a special conservation effort of Assam.
The Greater Adjutant Stork or 'Hargila', were perceived to bring bad luck & their habitats were destroyed until @StorkSister took up a community level mission.

“Sariska Needs Strong Corridors, Not Just Reintroduction”
Tiger Reserve has the potential to become an ideal tiger reintroduction site. After the tiger population reached zero in 2003-04, a self-sustaining population is now thriving in the forest this is undoubtedly a positive development.
However, can this fragmented forest, lacking strong corridors, support a significantly larger tiger population in the future? My answer is clearly “No.” The carrying capacity of this isolated forest has already reached its limit. (55 tigers) Moreover, Sariska holds the distinction of facing the highest level of human interference among all tiger reserves in India.
Although the reserve is connected through corridors to strong sanctuaries like Jamwa Ramgarh and Viratnagar, tigers are still unable to reach them. In my view, it is essential to strengthen these corridors. Alternatively, these sanctuaries should be jointly notified as a separate Tiger Reserve so that their administrative control is independent of Sariska.
Even today, a resident male tiger has been present here for a long time. What is urgently needed is the arrival of a female tiger.
These adjoining sanctuaries offer an additional area of approximately 800 square kilometers, which can be further expanded by another 300 square kilometers. This expanded landscape could easily support an additional 25-30 tigers. In the future, a robust corridor could also help connect these tigers to the forests of Jhalana and Amer.
The only condition is that all these efforts must be executed properly, in a well-coordinated manner.

Behali is still dying!
Behali wildlife sanctuary is the last pristine forest of Biswanath district still on the verge of extinction. In extreme north, a border-disputed area, rampant encroachment & deforestation continue to shroud the forest and threaten its rich biodiversity.
Everyone dreams of capturing a head on shot of a tiger during a safari, but I consider a shot of the tiger swimming to be even more exciting and lucky. It is a thrilling experience that becomes an unforgettable memory in life.
However, the tiger is a habitual swimmer among the big cats. Swimming across water is a very easy and favourite task for it, which it repeats almost every day.

@AkkshyeTulsyan There are basic manners to be followed in a wildlife habitat. Everyone should adhere. But like we cannot ban cars on the road bcoz some people drive badly. Similarly some rowdy tourists throwing rappers should not lead to safari ban, they should be fined
@AkkshyeTulsyan Sir in my opinion there is no harm if tourism is being conducted as per guidelines of National Tiger Conservation Authority and Technical committee recommendations.
The beauty and diversity of Nagarhole is incredible , it needs to be on the world safari tourism map.
The Karnataka government has decided to fully reopen the jungle safari (Park Excursion) at the Bandipur and Nagarahole Tiger Reserves, based on the effective carrying capacity scientifically assessed by a Technical Committee of experts and officials.

@DKShivakumar Bravo sir...Nagarhole has the potential to become one of the greatest wildlife destinations in the world , it's the best place to see tigers , leopards and wild dogs in the same safari.
Karnataka’s forests are among our state’s greatest natural treasures. Protecting them while creating responsible opportunities for people to experience their beauty is central to our vision of sustainable development.
Based on the scientifically assessed carrying capacity and the recommendations of the expert Technical Committee, our government has decided to fully reopen the regulated jungle safari at Bandipur and Nagarahole Tiger Reserves. The Committee’s recommendations have been accepted, and safari operations will continue under a carefully regulated framework that places conservation and ecological balance above all else.
Karnataka has always been a pioneer in sustainable eco-tourism. Our approach ensures that tourism not only safeguards our rich biodiversity but also creates meaningful livelihood opportunities for local communities and strengthens the rural economy.
Every visitor who steps into our forests should return not just with memories of Karnataka’s extraordinary wildlife, but with a deeper appreciation for the importance of conserving our natural heritage. Our commitment is to build an eco-tourism model where conservation, community welfare and responsible tourism go hand in hand, ensuring that our forests, wildlife and the communities that protect them continue to thrive for generations to come.

For decades, this unique landscape has been a front-row seat to the who’s who of Indian wildlife; tigers, leopards, Gharial, Deers and massive herds of elephants.
