Thrilled to announce that my lab is moving to the new Wu Tsai Institute at Yale University this summer!! It is a bittersweet move - I will miss my colleagues at UF - but I’m very excited about the opportunities (and the weather) 😊 LET’S GOOOOO
Really excited to be named one of the Sloan Fellows in Neuroscience! It's an honor to join the ranks of some seriously talented people, and I sincerely hope I can live up to it. Thank you to the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation!
🎉Congrats to the 126 early-career scientists who have been awarded a Sloan Research Fellowship this year! These exceptional scholars are drawn from 51 institutions across the US and Canada, and represent the next generation of groundbreaking researchers. https://t.co/MO8q8eABH4

I really wish Yongxu could have been here to present it himself! Please reach out if you would like to chat with him about it.
Excited to present grad student Yongxu Zhang’s work at #NeurIPS2024, on the inference of switching recurrent neural networks (SRNNs) directly from neural data. The inferred neural discrete states match behavior, and the dynamics help us predict forward in time. Come say hi @4.30!

SEE YOU IN CHICAGO!
I enjoyed moderating a faculty panel on AI and Innovation at the @Yale_Ventures Innovation Sunmit last week. Faculty from @YaleEngineering, @WuTsaiYale, @YaleLawSch, @JacksonYale, and @yale’s Center for Collaborative Arts and Media offered deep and thoughtful insights!
The Brain Initiative Brain Behavior Quantification and Synchronization just dropped a pretty cool U01! Behavior enthusiasts check it out 🐭🧠🐭👀https://t.co/jWpdwR4kAa
Amidst all the cuts in Brain Initiative funding, we are nervous to announce but thrilled to receive this NIH Brain Initiative R34 grant, together with @DrNancyPadilla and @DanWesson_ , to develop methods to understand social behaviors from multimodal data!

We enjoyed retracing our intellectual journey, and revisiting the many papers that drove our thinking. As we were drawn to dynamical explanations, preparatory activity was our gateway drug. Work by @MattAntimatt was a key enabler
