🔥R. homothallicus is fairly easy to differentiate from the more common R. arrhizus due to its zygospores. 🔥However it is being increasingly reported nowadays. 🔥thankfully it is associated with better survival and a good anti-fungal susceptibility profile.

The revised guidelines of PMDT in India talk about a short 9-11 month MDR treatment regimen containing injectable drugs or a longer 18-20 months long oral regimen....a non inferior 9 month long oral regimen would be awesome 😎wish I could afford a read 😅

Drug resistant #TB is a serious public health problem in India.
@TheLancet published a game changing paper—and hid it behind a paywall—that shows 9-month regimen is as good as 24-month one.

Doctors who treat potentially fatal TB can’t read the paper.

India is the top consumer of antimicrobials worldwide. It also ensures the highest burden of antimicrobial resistance. What an irony.
