CM, Home Minister Flag Off 32 Mobile Forensic Vans, 75 Boleros Bengaluru In a major push to strengthen forensic and policing capabilities, the Government of #Karnataka on Saturday flagged off 32 state-of-the-art Mobile #Forensic Vans and 75 newly procured Bolero vehicles. The Mobile Forensic Vans, acquired at a cost of ₹20.40 crore with support from the Government of #India, are equipped with advanced forensic examination and digital triage facilities. Officials said the vehicles will enable scientific crime scene processing and early collection of high-quality forensic evidence.The vans will be deployed across districts, complementing the work of 201 trained Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOs) already stationed across the state. With one forensic van in each district, investigators will be better equipped to conduct systematic examinations, ensuring proper documentation, preservation and secure transportation of evidence. Police officials noted that the initiative will significantly enhance the scientific rigour of criminal investigations and improve conviction rates through evidence-based policing. Alongside the forensic fleet, 75 Bolero vehicles were also flagged off to strengthen mobility and emergency response. The ceremony was presided over by Chief Minister D.K. Kalaburagi City Police Commissioner, Sharanappa S D says, "The police constable Shivakumar, who was working in City Arm Reserve, has shot himself at a police van which was deployed at Jagat Circle. As per preliminary information, it looks like he has decided to end his life for personal reasons... We are present at the scene with the forensic team... Whatever the complaint the family will give, we will take up the case and we investigate it."
