Many Autists and ADHDers respond to questions before fully processing them, because we feel the huge weight of societal expectation to respond to people instantly. This is one of the reasons why we often ramble, deviate, talk in circles, miss things out and regret our answers.
@AutisticCoach_ Guess the longest I've experienced lasted from 2005 to 2012, so 7 years. Slowly finding and having found ways to avoid major crippling crashes like that since then. Smaller ones last weeks to a month mostly. Hopefully it will be easier for me now, now knowing I am autistic.
Many of us #ActuallyAutistic humans are told that when we're speaking that we are "mad" or "aggressive". This happens in writing and orally at times. Does this happen to you? How do you combat it?
#AskingAutistics
@AutisticCoach_ Yes, chronically. Neck and shoulders are rock solid and often painful, also causing headaches at times. Targeted stretching, warmth and yoga help me, on top of recharging / relaxing.
@AutisticCoach_ For me it depends. Outside, where I cannot control sensory input, it's definitely more of an issue. Social interaction may cause emotional issues, however, which mostly happen when outside / at work. But at home / online as well. Not easy to answer.
Autistic joy(s) of the day: I walked through the park and stopped to watch and identify birds. I also bought a calendar that has pictures of birds. And an old biology-encyclopedia is on its way to me, can't wait to read it.
At the medical centre, absolute fuming😡
Masking is compulsory, but the ways people choose to defy ‘mask wearing’ is infuriating!
On the chin, just over the mouth but nose free, round the neck (person in question was on their laptop, couldn’t type whilst masking)
#WearAMask 😷
@forestvanslyke My colleague visited "Body Worlds" over the weekend and showed me the pics she made there today. I was all excited and bobbed up and down without suppressing/masking it, asking about details while just being myself. It felt great.
@forestvanslyke It takes conscious thought and effort for me to consider all possible ways a statement could've been intended to soundand what they intended to have meant, and I feel I am never sure I got it right. Does that count?
@vawmie Srane, it's the experiences of others that opened my eyes in regards to how it is for me or how it shows in me. Been deep-diving since Nov and I still learn new stuff, and because experiences of others were and are so crucial for orientation and introspection, I tweeted this ^^
@obrewan Thanks to your tweet (was looking up #actuallyautistic tweets) I've been reading autisticbookclub's posts for hours now and feeling seen rings true. So, thank you for sharing this.
