@slate_fluker Hey Slate Fluker, if I lose 1x 5 star recruit, and gain 10x 5 star recruits and a 4 star recruit, did I win or lose talent in the portal?
@JacobHarrisSBI 1. What team did he play for on July 6th 2026?
2. What team did he play for on July 6th 2026?
3. Has the legal process played out? Has anything changed since this tweet 14 hours ago? Is Jaxon Kohler still eligible?
@nightowl042727@DeadFishCapital@jcbtorti The only 2 factors for whether someone should take the bet are net worth and utility function.
You say one net worth assumption is the dumbest take ever, but another is pedantic and unrelated.
Have you heard of kalshi? The ecosystem could use more guys like you!
@fjortegaa@MorningIsMurder@AlexMonahaqyrt Right. It’s not just +EV.
And right, $100 would not be a crazy unit size. Mr. Professor’s mistake wasn’t the idea of diminishing marginal utility, it was his assumption that his students were betting with their last $100.
Doesn’t make marginal utility wrong as an idea though.
@fjortegaa @MorningIsMurder@AlexMonahaqyrt In the first 2 minutes of the lecture Mr. Professor explains why that math isn’t actually right but nice try.
Would you flip a coin to win $1,000,000, lose $999,999 right now?
@nightowl042727@DeadFishCapital@jcbtorti Lwaguelabshhcucyehehd, do you think the professor assuming a $100 net worth is a dumb take?
What % of class do you think, using their real net worth, should decline the bet with his sqrt utility function?
@Gugabed@capjack2000 If you’re saying a PM could just as easily run a sportsbook using the same UI then sure, but there are reasons they don’t do that. Legal mostly, but they’ll tell you it’s philosophical.
@Gugabed@capjack2000 I mean sportsbooks don’t need them in the same way my grocery store doesn’t need an auctioneer when I buy my eggs right?
They’re two completely separate business models. If we’re running an exchange, a method to facilitate exchange is very valuable right?
@Gugabed@capjack2000 What makes them low value add? Has Kalshi reached a scale where there’d be continuous liquidity without them?
And all else being equal, does value add to the PM from MM change if tax laws become less favorable?
