Today, we have another important decision within the framework of the initiative to procure American weapons – an additional $500 million from our friends in Northern Europe: Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. The implementation will be coordinated with NATO through the Prioritised Ukraine Requirement List. I thank @SwedishPM Ulf Kristersson, Prime Minister of Norway @jonasgahrstore, Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen @Statsmin, and @SecGenNATO Mark Rutte.
This is a very strong initiative that significantly boosts our ability to protect lives. Yesterday, there was a €500 million contribution from the Netherlands; today, another half-billion dollars in support. This will be felt. And it will serve as a strong example for other NATO countries to strengthen the security ties between America and Europe and to ensure protection from Russian strikes.
We equally value the major contribution of our Nordic partners not only in the supply of weapons but also in developing our joint defense production and enhancing Ukraine’s own defense industry capacity.
These steps are a new, real foundation for long-term security across all of Europe. Russia will never turn Europe into a continent of war, and it is precisely through our joint efforts that we are ensuring peace will prevail.
🇳🇴🇸🇪🇩🇰 Norway, Sweden & Denmark will jointly fund 🇺🇸 defence equipment for 🇺🇦 under NATO’s new initiative — the Prioritised Ukraine Requirement List (PURL).
Together, we’re contributing $500M to strengthen 🇺🇦 air defence and meet urgent military needs. #StandWithUkraine #NATO

With my Norwegian colleagues at end of another visit to Kabul-Afghanistan. Thank you @RaffaellaIodic2 for being a great host. As a team; we remain committed to the people of Afghanistan. @NorwayinAFG@silje905
The situation in Gaza is catastrophic, and @UNRWA is the most important humanitarian organization there. Norway continues our support for the Palestinian people through UNRWA. International support for Palestine is needed now more than ever
A humanitarian ceasefire in #Gaza is needed immediately.
Today’s adoption by the Security Council on a resolution is an important call for safe and unhindered, humanitarian access.
The suffering in Gaza must stop. Hostages must be released.
-FM @EspenBarthEide
We increase support to @UN, operating at the border + inside #Afghanistan.
As winter looms, needs will increase, making humanitarian assistance even more critical.
Norway remains committed to supporting the humanitarian response, says @EspenBarthEide

Productive meetings in Kabul with df Minister of Health Ibaad, df Deputy Foreign Minister Stanekzai, diplomatic missions, UN organizations and civil society.
The earthquakes in #Afghanistan bring further suffering to already hard-hit population. Norway increases life-saving support to civilians with 💲1.85 Million, through
@WFP and @ifrc.
My sympathies go to all who have lost loved ones.

Terrible news on the devastating earthquake in #Herat, #Afghanistan. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones, the injured & all affected.
Important emergency response ongoing by humanitarian partners in coordination with the de facto authorities.
FM @AHuitfeldt
Thank you @SerajMahbouba for an inspiring meeting!
Deeply concerned by worsening situation in #Afghanistan. Exclusion of women isn’t a viable path, violating human rights.
Meaningful collaboration with all stakeholders needed for better future for Afghan people
-FM @AHuitfeldt
Productive meetings with SRSG Otunbayeva, diplomatic missions, IRC Afghanistan, and civil society incl @serajMahbouba in Kabul. Discussed restrictions on womens rights, the humanitarian and security situation, and the need for inclusive governance.
Met with df FM Muttaqi in Kabul today. Noted positive steps in countering drug production and a reduction in the number of terror attacks. Stressed once again that respect for women’s rights, including access to work and education, is essential to moving relations forward.
End of 2 day’s visit by Norwegian delegation @NorwayinAFG to Kabul. A special thanks to @RaffaellaIodic2 @EUDepAmbAFG EU delegation for the support and facilitation.
Two days of meetings in Kabul with de facto authorities, former president Karzai, civil society, UN, international partners and civil society. Stressed the urgent need for girls and women to return to school and work.
I strongly condemn Taliban’s ban on Afghan female workers in UN organizations in #Afghanistan. United Nations entities depend on female staff to operate and deliver life-saving assistance. UN is crucial in our work to help the Afghan people. We stand with @UNAMAnews
Alarmed by reports that @matiullahwesa famous educator esp. for #girls, leading civil society member & founder of @PenPath1, has been arrested in Kabul by the Taliban dfA. His safety is paramount & all his legal rights must be respected.
#ReleaseMatiullahWesa
On #InternationalWomensDay I reiterate Norway´s strong call for the rights of women and girls in #Afghanistan to be respected. I deplore the fact that only male students were able to start the new university semester this week; access to education is a basic human right.
