I love this speech and how Wallace dives deep into some topics that are not always talked about. His advice to be aware of yourself as well as others’ emotions is so important, especially now with what is going on in the world #laylit20

I feel like the forced equality, while absurd and almost impossible, sort of symbolizes how everyone tries to be like somebody else in our society. There’s always that perfect person or ideal behavior that people strive for and try to change themselves to fit in #laylit20

@leena_khashab I think F crying at that moment could be a culmination of a bunch of emotions. She met Adam when her marriage was on hold and then got herself wrapped up in a situation bigger than her or her career. His death brings F back to reality #laylit20

@yashage_lit I think it could also show how little Fiona thinks of him. She liked not having Jack around because she could pretend like nothing was different. The lack of communication between them both suggests that Fiona will never know Jack’s side of the story either #laylit20

@LKoncsol I think their marriage is so screwed up already, and it’s hard to see the line between what’s right and wrong. J told F about the affair just out of consideration, not out of guilt. But if F claims to not want this marriage die then she should tell him. Idk it’s way too messy

@colelitclark I think it could perhaps be because she doesn’t want to get too attached to someone new. Clearly they have a bond and Fiona is fond of Adam, but maybe Fiona just isn’t ready to open herself up #laylit20

@domedarsh1000 I think Fiona does want what’s best for herself, and she is definitely very independent. But her fear of being alone and holding onto her marriage does not necessarily benefit her because what’s the point of staying married if it’s unhappy? She rejects being single but I think-

@litwithlayton I think his return meant that she had to face the reality, but she was enjoying her life being up in the air for a little bit. Maybe if Jack never returned she could’ve kept pretending like everything was normal and that he was coming home soon. #laylit20

@AltmanPayton It also makes me wonder if Adam has ever even questioned his faith. There are points in everyones lives where they start to wonder about their beliefs. Has Adam even gotten to that point in his life where he would have discovered something new? #laylit20
