A rare jewel of the Eastern Ghats is finally getting the attention it deserves.

Under the able leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri @ncbn garu and the strong direction of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri @PawanKalyan garu, The Andhra Pradesh Forest Department, in collaboration with the Eastern Ghats Wildlife Society, has initiated a conservation status survey of the Peacock Tarantula (Poecilotheria metallica) in the vast landscape of the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR).

This species is Critically Endangered and endemic to a very small region of eastern ghats in Andhra Pradesh, making it one of world's most unique and vulnerable arachnids.

Understanding its distribution and population is a crucial step toward securing its future in the wild.

Because conservation isn’t just about the iconic species — it’s also about protecting the rare, the endemic, and the irreplaceable.

This is one of many such stories to come.

కాకినాడ ప్రత్యేక ఆర్థిక మండలి (సెజ్) పరిధిలోని భూములను తిరిగి రైతులకు ఇప్పించే బాధ్యత తీసుకుంటానని గత ఎన్నికల సమయంలో ఇచ్చిన హామీను ఉప ముఖ్యమంత్రి పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ నిలబెట్టుకున్నారు. సెజ్ పరిధిలోని 2,180 ఎకరాల భూములకు స్టాంప్, రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ డ్యూటీలను మినహాయించి తిరిగి రైతులకు రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ చేసేలా పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ చొరవ తీసుకొని ఏళ్లుగా అపరిష్కృతంగా ఉన్న సమస్యను పరిష్కరించారు. దీంతో కాకినాడ తీరంలోని తొండంగి, ఉప్పాడ కొత్తపల్లి మండలాల పరిధిలో సుమారు 1,551 మంది రైతులకు మేలు జరగనుంది. కాకినాడ సెజ్ రైతుల సమస్యలను గౌరవ ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు గారి దృష్టికి ఉప ముఖ్యమంత్రి ప్రత్యేకంగా తీసుకువెళ్లారు.
ఈ మేరకు రాష్ట్ర రెవెన్యూ శాఖ కాకినాడ సెజ్ రైతులకు ఊరట కలిగించిన కూటమి ప్రభుత్వం. కాకినాడ సెజ్ కు భూములు ఇచ్చిన భూముల్లో 2,180 ఎకరాలను తిరిగి రైతులకు ఇచ్చివేయాలని ప్రభుత్వం నిర్ణయం తీసుకొంది. ఈ మేరకు కాకినాడ సెజ్ లో అవార్డు భూములను తిరిగి రైతులకు రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ చేసి ఇవ్వాలని రెవెన్యూ శాఖ ప్రత్యేక ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి ఆదేశాలిచ్చారు. ఈ రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ లకు రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ రుసుములు, స్టాంప్ డ్యూటీలు వసూలు చేయకూడదని ఆదేశాలలో పేర్కొన్నారు. ఉప్పాడ కొత్తపల్లి, తొండంగి మండలాల పరిధిలో ఈ భూములు ఉన్నాయి.
కాకినాడ సెజ్ పరిధిలో రైతులకు వెనక్కి ఇచ్చిన భూమి, తిరిగి వారి పేరు మీద రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ కాక సతమతం అవుతున్న విషయంపై దృష్టి సారించిన పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ గత ప్రభుత్వ నిర్లక్ష్యాన్ని సరిచేస్తూ రైతులకు న్యాయం చేశారు. గత ప్రభుత్వంలో కాకినాడ సెజ్ భూములపై జీవో నెం.12 విడుదల అయినా క్షేత్రస్థాయిలో మాత్రం రైతులకు మేలు జరగలేదు. వారి పేరున రిజిస్ట్రేషన్లు జరగలేదు. దీంతో పిల్లలకు పెళ్లిళ్లు, చదువుల నిమిత్తం భూములు ఉపయోగపడటం లేదని రైతులు పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ కు గతంలో నివేదించారు. దీనిపై పూర్తి వివరాలు పరిశీలించి, రైతులకు మేలు జరిగేలా చూస్తానని పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ అప్పట్లో హామీ ఇచ్చారు. ఈ సమస్యను ఇటీవల శాసన మండలిలో సమావేశాల్లో ప్రభుత్వ విప్ శ్రీ పిడుగు హరిప్రసాద్ గారు ప్రభుత్వం దృష్టికి తీసుకొచ్చారు. రైతుల పడుతున్న ఇబ్బందులను సభలో ప్రస్తావించారు. భూములు రైతుల పేరిట రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ కాకపోవడంతో రైతు భరోసా వంటి పథకాల లబ్ధి అందడం లేదని, బ్యాంకుల నుంచి రుణాలు పొందడానికీ వీలు లేకుండా పోయిందని రైతుల వ్యధను సభ ముందుంచారు. దీంతో ఈ సమస్య మరోసారి చర్చనీయాంశం అయ్యింది.
మంగళవారం మధ్యాహ్నం ప్రభుత్వం కాకినాడ సెజ్ రైతులకు స్టాంప్, రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ డ్యూటీలను మినహాయించి తిరిగి రైతుల భూములు రైతులకు తిరిగి రిజిస్ట్రేషన్ చేసేలా ఆదేశాలు విడుదలయ్యాయి. కాకినాడ సెజ్ రైతులకు ఊరట కలిగించేలా నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నందుకు గౌరవ ముఖ్యమంత్రి శ్రీ చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు గారికి, రెవెన్యూ శాఖ మంత్రి శ్రీ @SatyaAnagani గారికి ఉప ముఖ్యమంత్రి కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలిపారు.

🔸 In Andhra Pradesh, we have sanctioned ₹963.93 crore for the construction of a 6-lane access-controlled highway connecting the Anakapalli–Anandapuram NH-16 corridor to Sheelanagar Junction on NH-516C in Visakhapatnam district.

🔸 Spanning 12.66 km, the project begins at the eastern side of Sabbavaram village and concludes near the GAIL office on the existing port road at Sheelanagar Junction.

🔸 This corridor will ensure seamless cargo evacuation by eliminating traffic interferences and effectively segregating Sheelanagar–Anandapuram traffic, significantly enhancing connectivity to the Visakhapatnam Port and improving logistical efficiency.
