Our children are the future of Plateau State, and the quality of education we provide today will determine the strength of the Plateau we build tomorrow.

At the SUBEB Headquarters in Jos, I flagged off the distribution of vehicles, teaching and learning materials, computers and tablets, alongside a two-day capacity-building workshop for teachers and school leaders.

For our administration, this goes beyond the distribution of materials. It reflects our deliberate commitment to repositioning basic education as the foundation of our collective future.

Since assuming office, we have prioritised investments in school infrastructure, instructional materials, teacher development and stronger institutional systems. We have cleared outstanding UBEC counterpart fund obligations for 2022–2023, bringing Plateau State up to date, while preparations are underway for the 2026 counterpart contribution. Together, these investments will amount to over ₦10 billion in basic education.

Over the last three years, we have also renovated more than 1,200 classrooms across the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Through the HOPE Programme, we are working to bridge the digital divide by providing computers and tablets, while ensuring that our teachers receive the training, learning content and support required to make technology a meaningful part of the classroom experience.

We are equally strengthening SUBEB’s operational capacity, improving supervision and data systems, deepening community engagement and ensuring that resources get to the classrooms and communities where they are needed most.

Our vision is clear: a stronger education system is the foundation for a stronger Plateau.

This flag-off represents both a promise kept and a promise renewed. We will continue to invest, reform and take the necessary steps to build an education system where every Plateau child, regardless of location or background, has access to quality, relevant and safe education.

The future of Plateau begins with the children we educate today.

SECURING PLATEAU, STRENGTHENING OUR FUTURE

Yesterday, I convened a meeting of the Plateau State Security Council at the New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, as part of our continuous efforts to review the security situation across our State and strengthen measures to protect our people, communities and livelihoods.

The meeting brought together the Deputy Governor, heads of security and law enforcement agencies, the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da. Jacob Gyang Buba, and other senior government officials.

Our deliberations focused extensively on recent security incidents, emerging threats, intelligence gathering and sharing, preventive operations, inter-agency collaboration, and the measures required to safeguard lives, property and economic activities across Plateau State.

The recent incident in Mangu was deeply painful and unacceptable. While security personnel had been deployed, the fact that lives were still affected reinforces the need to constantly reassess our strategies, identify gaps and ensure that such incidents are prevented from recurring.

I have received briefings on the arrests already made in connection with some of the attacks recorded in the State, as well as the ongoing investigations and efforts to apprehend other suspects. Our security agencies are working collaboratively with relevant authorities at the national level and deploying available technology and intelligence to ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.

I have given our security agencies clear directives: we must remain proactive, vigilant and uncompromising in the protection of lives and property.

Our approach cannot be limited to responding after attacks have occurred. We must strengthen intelligence-led and preventive security measures that enable us to identify threats early and neutralise them before they materialise.

As we approach the ember months and political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, we will continue to strengthen security across Plateau State. We will not allow criminal elements or those determined to disrupt our peace to undermine the progress we have collectively made.

I also call on every Plateau citizen to remain a partner in securing our State. Timely and credible information about suspicious persons, movements or activities can make the difference between preventing an attack and responding to one. Security remains a shared responsibility, and our communities are indispensable partners in this effort.

Plateau is the Home of Peace and Tourism, and we remain determined to preserve that identity.

Beyond protecting lives and property, peace and security are fundamental to the economic future we are building. Our farmers must be able to cultivate their lands without fear. Businesses must operate confidently. Investors must see Plateau as a safe destination for investment, and our tourism sector must continue to thrive.

My administration remains resolute in building a Plateau where our people can live peacefully, work productively and invest confidently.

We will continue to work with our security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and citizens to consolidate the peace we have achieved and build a safer, stronger and more prosperous Plateau State.

Good morning Plateau state.
This is the amount that has entered Plateau since 2023.
Incase you don't understand these figures. It's about 413 billion Naira.
2023-2026.
Now, what has this government done with all of this in 3 years, can someone give us a breakdown?

That ₦413bn ordinarily doesn’t go to the governor o.

A good part of it is LGA money (Plateau has 17 of them), plus salaries, pensions, overhead and deductions. So the big figure on that dashboard isn’t the same as cash sitting in one office nor in a single individual’s pocket.

This question is still valid anyway. What has actually been done with the part that reached the state?

Still on the issue, I was at a training on digital rights two weeks back and the facilitator casually gave and instance; He said something that stayed with me: before you say government isn’t working, have you used your freedom of information properly?

Ask for the budget and the implementation report. That’s how you get a real breakdown, not just the total.

HAJJ SPONSORSHIP IS AN INVESTMENT IN PEACE AND RELIGIOUS HARMONY

Today, I received the report of the 2026 Hajj operation at the New Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

For our administration, supporting Muslim pilgrims to undertake the Hajj is not political patronage; it is an investment in peace, religious harmony and inclusive governance.

Pilgrimage should go beyond the journey to the Holy Land. It should deepen our fear of God, strengthen our character and remind us that, regardless of faith or political affiliation, we are all equal before God.

For too long, the Muslim-Christian divide has shaped conversations on the Plateau, and it has not helped us. We must focus instead on what unites us and recognise that our future is shared.

This commitment to inclusion informed my decision to appoint Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase as Amirul Hajj despite our different political affiliations. The interest of Plateau State must always rise above partisan considerations, and I commend him for justifying the confidence reposed in him.

I also commend the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Ulamas and other stakeholders for the successful 2026 Hajj operation and the improvements made to ensure transparency and accountability.

Our vision remains a peaceful, united and prosperous Plateau where no citizen is excluded because of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation.

We will continue to build bridges, strengthen mutual respect and work together for the Plateau we all desire.

MUTFWANG CONVENES SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PEACE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Plateau State Governor, His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang Esq, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, convened a meeting of the State Security Council at the New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, to review the security situation across the State and strengthen measures aimed at sustaining peace, protecting lives and property, and creating a secure environment for economic development.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, heads of security and law enforcement agencies in the State, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da. Jacob Gyang Buba among top government officials.

Deliberations focused extensively on emerging security threats, recent incidents recorded in some communities, intelligence gathering and sharing, preventive operations, inter-agency coordination, and strategies for safeguarding lives, property and economic activities across Plateau State.

Speaking after the meeting, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, said the meeting was part of Governor Mutfwang’s continuous assessment of the security situation and his determination to ensure that Plateau State remains peaceful, secure and conducive for residents, investors and visitors.

According to him, Governor Mutfwang, as the Chief Security Officer of the State, periodically convenes the State Security Council to assess emerging developments, identify gaps and strengthen existing security measures to effectively respond to threats.

He said, “His Excellency Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is the Chief Security Officer of the State, and once in a while, we review the security situation. We assess the security situation in order to take steps to improve on what we already have.”

“The Mangu case was very unfortunate. We prepared and deployed, but somehow, such incidents still occurred. That is part of why His Excellency called this meeting so that such must not happen again,” CP Faniyan said.

The Commissioner disclosed that arrests had been made in connection with some of the major attacks recorded in the State in the past month, while investigations were ongoing to establish the identities and roles of other suspects.

He explained that the investigations were being conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, including relevant authorities at the national level, while technological tools were also being deployed to analyse available intelligence and support ongoing investigations.

“We have some arrests; investigation is ongoing. We are not investigating in isolation. We are collaborating with all the other agencies up to the national level. We are still going after some suspects, and we are doing a lot of technological analysis.”

CP Faniyan assured the people of Plateau State that the security agencies had received the marching orders of Governor Mutfwang and would continue to work tirelessly and collaboratively to protect lives and property, prevent criminal activities and respond swiftly to emerging threats.

He further appealed to the people of Plateau State, under the leadership of His Excellency, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, to support the “Time is Now” administration by providing credible and timely information on suspicious activities, movements and persons.

He stressed that effective and sustainable security depended largely on a strong partnership between security agencies and the communities they serve.

The Commissioner reaffirmed that security operatives were fully committed to sustaining Plateau State’s identity as the “Home of Peace and Tourism,” assuring that criminal elements would not be allowed to undermine the State’s hard-earned reputation.

He noted that heightened vigilance and proactive security measures had become particularly necessary as the ember months approach and political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
