Asking for a friend. Is it disingenuous for the @AoMRC to now be calling for a hastily organised, poorly described rapid review of a 2 decade long project that its own members drove without any prepublished plan for academic or oversight scrutiny?
We are clear: PA students do not study medicine, PAs are not medically trained, PAs are not medical professionals. We have approached the GMC to clarify its position.
🚨IMPORTANT: PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATES SCANDAL UPDATE
• Doctors across country raise alarm
• Royal College of GP’s @rcgp calls for halt to recruitment of PA’s in general practice
@TheBMA has called for IMMEDIATE halt to recruitment of PA’s & Anaesthesia Associates
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The resolve of @BMA_JuniorDocs is going nowhere:
Feb '23: 98.01% vote to strike
Aug '23 : 98.37% vote to strike
March '24 : 97.97% vote to strike
RT if you want @10DowningStreet to get serious & make a credible offer, show a path towards #PayRestoration
Junior doctors in England vote by 98% to continue industrial action for further six months in long-running pay dispute, British Medical Association says https://t.co/jTXVuBay9N
The @gmcuk has persistently ignored, belittled & dismissed the concerns of doctors - many of them eminent leaders in their field - over the PA project.
Why on earth should this tweet reassure us - or our patients - now?
Ok then
I am breaking ranks
As Councillor @RCPhysicians
Open letter to council
Time for senior leadership to consider their positions
Silence is complicity
And that? Isn’t me
Enough.
#RCPEGM
RCP London publishes pre-EGM member survey data:
These data are not so much a smoking gun as a now exploded bomb.
The lack of candour from Officers at the EGM is shocking.
It is not enough to hang the Deputy Registrar out to dry - They all need to go. https://t.co/Y2yeww19HF
I will just leave this table here to do the talking. The @RCPhysicians leadership has attempted to mislead its Fellows at the #RCPEGM.

Data from the pre-EGM survey. It is exactly what we feared. @RCPhysicians misrepresented the results at the EGM, the results were presented in a misleading, bizarre fashion. More resignations are needed to retain any credibility
Wow it seems somebody has uploaded the EGM meeting of @RCPhysicians on YouTube.
The public and media can see for themselves now how senior officers:
💥 refused to answer patient safety questions,
💥refused to answer what role PAs bought to MDT
💥purposefully rambled to run out time therefore suppressing genuine debate.
💥Admitted that they couldn't pause the roll out of PAs until scope of practice is defined, as they had signed contract and it would leave them financially exposed- not even a mention of patient safety
💥 refuse to acknowledge the safety concerns being raised by their members
Senior council officers of the college should resign.
They do not represent their members and they do not represent patient safety. The only things they are supporting are their own careers.
Do the right thing.

3⃣ The Trust’s patient safety incident investigation found the PA was not responsible for any errors, & that even if a urology doctor had been available, it was "unlikely" his treatment would have changed
Eight senior doctors who examined the PSII told @Telegraph they disagreed
Extremely worried about this...⏬️
Illegal prescribing and diagnoses being missed.
@TheBMA asking House of Lords to kick legislation back as doctors now being replaced by Physician Associates, despite PAs only completing a two-year postgraduate course.
