@SirEspinLopez@HansenAdam That would be nice, but the funding & expertise for such R&D just isn’t there (UCI/CPA). There is also the issue of liability should any “3rd-party” solution be applied & it fails in the field. If solution involves car handling it needs to be compliant across the various brands
@SirEspinLopez@HansenAdam Teams are open to safety improvements, but solution would have to be developed & funded by the car manufacturers. The race convoy is often chaotic beyond imagination so any Ai/predictive analysis-based tool would have a very tough challenge
@SirEspinLopez@HansenAdam Many race cars have 360-deg proximity sensors with audible alerts. Some even auto-apply brakes/opposite steer. The nature of pro cycling means riders/other vehicles constantly trigger the “safety” systems, often leading to even bigger problems - we have to disable them for races
@maatte_T@jefferinc@faustocoppi60 About as well as every other rider who didn’t crash.
BTW Ayuso crossed the line as fast, if not faster, than Remco - no problem for him (watch the overhead shot)
@BenjiNaesen My take - he should have slowed down & there was sufficient space. Multiple yellow jackets all waving him to slow down (see photo) - Remco instead thinks he’s Moses & can part the waiting soignieurs (who are there for the riders). Verdict : Sorry Remco, this one’s on you
@mr_jjnsn @faustocoppi60 The electric green was preferred by Škoda and originally proposed to ASO, but ASO refused as they said it looks too much like white on TV 🤷🏼♂️
@olyalphy@HansenAdam The car partner of the TdF is seriously looking at solutions with ASO. Already several officials cars are fully electric (Prudhomme etc). Challenge with team support is daily mileage at GT’s often exceed 350km (pre & post stage transfers). Targets for all electric are in place
@zerebrodestruid @ruby_roubaix @UCI_media I never said that. I was correcting the misconception that helicopters at races are anything to do with UCi - they are not.
