A Beautiful Story from Ranikhet, Uttarakhand: 10 Years Later, One Word Led a Missing Father Back to His Family

After nearly a decade, Shyam Singh, a resident of Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, has finally been reunited with his family, thanks to the sensitivity and persistence of Majkhali Police.

Shyam Singh had gone missing from home around 10 years ago. With his mental health condition, he was unable to clearly tell anyone who he was and had been wandering around the Majkhali and Tarikhet areas for years.

Majkhali Police Post In-charge SI Vinod Fartyal tried several ways to find his identity. When conversations failed, police gave him a diary and a pen and asked him to write anything he remembered.

He wrote just one word: “Rajepur.”

That single word became the breakthrough. Police contacted Rajepur Police Station in Farrukhabad, shared his photograph and other details, and after four days of verification, his identity was confirmed as Shyam Singh.

On August 7, his family was informed. His sons and relatives immediately reached Majkhali, where an emotional reunion took place after almost 10 years of separation.

Sometimes the biggest achievement for the police isn’t an arrest or a case solved.

It is helping a family find someone they had almost lost hope of ever seeing again. ❤️

There are 775 FTSCs in India for trying various offences

According to the Ministry of Law, over 2,45,000 cases are pending in FTSCs

A FTSC is not a court building. It requires judges, court staff, prosecutors, procedural compliances, investigators, bailiffs, witnesses, and additional financial resources

The most important constraint is that there not a sufficient number of judges; many posts of judges are vacant

A FTSC may help if the other conditions are satisfied

As someone who fights the State or Government on taxes for a living... a few words of caution for those kids who are being encouraged or those who are willingly getting excited and challenging the state to take legal action:

1. The first rule of litigation with the Government: know when not to litigate!!
2. Don't make the Government your enemy unless you are left with no other option.
3. The Government has deeper pockets, longer patience, and more time than you do.
4. I have never seen the State getting tired of litigation. Never. They can keep it going. Forever. We get tired!!!
5. If you are going to fight the State, make sure you can take a shot that can kill not a shot that can hurt. You rarely get a second shot.

This applies to a fight with every Government. BJP or Congress or AAP. Some are worse than what we are seeing today! Remeber point 2. Always.
