As per Defence Ministry Sources on the Great Nicobar Islands development project- "For holistic development of the Great Nicobar Islands, four interlinked projects have been envisaged - International Container Transhipment Port (ICTP), Joint user Greenfield airfield and Naval Air Station, Township and Power plant. The Total cost of four projects is Rs 81,000 crore. The ICTP - PPPAC appraisal has been done, and the DCN has been submitted by MoPSW to MoF. Township - EFC meeting conducted last week. Criticism that it is a commercial project being disguised as a strategic project is based on geographical illiteracy. Strategies are just military interests, but overall development. The aim of the project is to develop a long-term and sustainable presence on the islands, considering their geographical location."
Under the Great Nicobar Islands development projects, India has plans to invest Rs 13,000 crore to build an airport and runway for use by both the Indian Navy and civilians. The project is expected to be completed in five years, and the budget will be shared by both the Defence Ministry and the Ministry of Civil Aviation: Defence Ministry Sources

Indian nationals will no longer require a transit visa when travelling to another country with a layover at a German airport. BREAKING: We can confirm that it was an EXPLODING METEOR that produced a sonic boom over eastern Massachusetts and much of Southern New England at 2:07 p.m. Eastern time.
It was cloudy, so there weren't reliable reports. The American Meteor Society has logged several reports of the boom.
United States Geological Survey data confirms it was NOT an earthquake.
The GOES East weather satellite has a geostationary lightning mapper that can detect infrared light emissions. At 2:07 p.m., it plotted a line of simultaneous lightning strikes in a 50 mile-long line. That would be highly unusual for lightning. While there was lightning south of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, this was NOT the correct region of the overall storm for lightning, nonetheless a 50 mile-long stretch of it, to occur.
As such, we are comfortable calling this an EXPLODING METEOR. The satellites detected the infrared light emissions.
A few fragments likely fell to earth, but we're reviewing additional eyewitness data and radar data to determine the exact trajectory. (If it was moving southbound as it exploded, then a spattering of fragments probably fell on the Cape.)
#MeteorSighting: Eyewitnesses in New England and @NOAA’s GOES-19 satellite reported a bright fireball on Saturday, May 30, at 2:06 p.m EDT accompanied by a loud noise. The meteor appears to have fragmented at an altitude of 40 miles over northeast MA and southeast NH. The energy released at breakup is estimated to be equivalent to about 300 tons of TNT, which accounts for the loud noise.
Eyewitness accounts supplied by the American Meteor Society.
#WATCH | Delhi | Former Tibetan Prime Minister-in-Exile Lobsang Sangay says, "Do we deserve independence? Yes. Under international law, do we deserve self-determination? Yes. But the Tibetan government in exile's policy has been a middle way approach... We are Buddhists. We want to reach a middle ground... It's very difficult for India, America, or other countries to support our independence because they have signed bilateral agreements or treaties with China, respecting China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. So, the middle way approach is the policy, which says that if China does not repress and discriminate against Tibetans, we will seek genuine autonomy within China. We will not seek separation. So that's a compromise. Unfortunately, the Chinese government does not reciprocate in kind. They are not in the habit of giving. They're in the habit of taking... This is an expansionist empire... But our policy remains through dialogue, nonviolently, we want to address the issue of Tibet." (27.05)
