Police in the Oshana Region are conducting an investigation into a case of fraud after a 65-year-old man from Ongwediva suffered a significant financial loss amounting to a staggering sum of N$732,000 on Friday.

According to reports, it is alleged that the victim misplaced his identity card earlier that day. An unknown individual managed to obtain possession of this lost ID card and subsequently used it to fraudulently replace the victim's SIM card at MTC.

The suspect then proceeded to transfer an amount of N$732,000.00 from the victim's Standard Bank account.

The authorities have yet to recover the stolen funds or apprehend the responsible suspects.
