@joelkammeyer The bottleneck isn’t applications, it’s interviews. Interviews should be capped per specialty. Applications are simply the means to get the interview.

@GammaCounter @CabreraERDR @londyloo Think of it as tiering. All applicants apply to top and middle tier programs and avoid low-tier programs (HCA run programs, etc.). Anecdotally, I have heard a large number of the SOAP positions are at CMG affiliated places which applicants were told to avoid.

@HalstedMD I get your point but this isn’t true. Look at the numbers for the past 6 years. There are still thousands more applicants than spots, you’re just seeing people avoid CMG/HCA programs and cluster elsewhere.

@TriageNurseMD @londyloo This explanation falls apart when you look at the number of applicants to spots though. Number of applicants roughly the same as prior years (except last year which was anomalous). I would say we are starting to see tiers in EM programs show themselves.
