@Yorishiriamori@JerichosArt@TakaneShijofan Saying the writer “hated the first game’s fanbase” is off base IMO, a story about loss and hate is in line with the themes of the first game, Abby’s story w/Lev retells Joel’s. Ellie gets a more hopeful ending than the first one because she’s able to take charge and live her life
@Yorishiriamori@JerichosArt@TakaneShijofan You’re allowed to say the story didn’t work for you! It’s ok to feel like the gameplay conflicts with the themes of the story or that you still hate Abby. Ellie does! But you’re ignoring the fact that Ellie ends the story able to let go of her pain and hopefully rebuild her life
@Yorishiriamori@TakaneShijofan But that’s the point! You’re supposed to feel a desire for revenge and over the course of the game the players are supposed to feel like things are going too far
The point of Abby’s half of the game is to show how her and Joel are basically the same person for good and bad.
@tigerguy529@auroraSLAP@Yorishiriamori@TakaneShijofan Long post but it’s important to remember too that Abby spares Ellie TWICE.
Abby is unsatisfied with her revenge and only by helping a child and becoming their surrogate parent is she able to move forward and discover that she might have a life worth living.
@MGQAlic3@BassKade@DinoGuy515@Yorishiriamori@TakaneShijofan You don’t HAVE to like the game and it can just not sit right or gel with you, but people don’t need to try and create a plot hole where there isn’t one to justify not liking it.
Skill Up did a great job reviewing the game even though his conclusion is “yeah I did NOT like this”
@MGQAlic3@BassKade@DinoGuy515@Yorishiriamori@TakaneShijofan Joel is wary of the rest of the group in that room, he tries to calm things by saying “heh, you’re acting like you know me”
Abby already knew the names beforehand cause they were yelling at each other when they were fighting the horde (hard to avoid yelling “Joel look out!”)
@Yorishiriamori@TakaneShijofan The whole ending of the game is Ellie telling Abby to “just take him”
She was talking about Joel, not Lev. She lets go of the hate of losing the reconciliation she wanted and accepts the true final moment they shared together. Totally fine if it didn’t work for you though!
@Yorishiriamori@TakaneShijofan Ok, but Joel being offed that way was the point. It’s supposed to feel like he was stolen, like it’s unfair and make you think “I’m gunna kill Abby”
You can feel however about the rest of the story but it’s a little disingenuous to say players should have been able to accept it
@crusa_tv @Shusiaiaiaj @RioTheAutomator@airbagged Ok…
That’s doesn’t factor into the game though, which has Abby start from a very normal point and then through multiple flashbacks show that she has been bulking up and getting stronger to kill Joel.
She doesn’t even look roided, just buff w/broad shoulders.
@Shusiaiaiaj @RioTheAutomator@airbagged Abby isn’t lesbian and the game goes out of its way to show her workout/diet routine in her room (as well as how the community she’s in grows food and prioritizes soldiers like her to keep them strong)
If you wanna dunk on a game at least know what you’re talking about.
@Maluminse@krystalball lol Trump gave the same temporary legal status to nearly 500,000 Venezuelans in 2021 before he left office.
This is just racism.
@hermesverus@WrathoftheChimp@Finzy Nah bro play ranked and really show off your skills… unless YOU just want to farm casuals to feel like you’re better at the game?
If that’s the case then skill issue…
@RebelDoctor2@Juicy_Jase@lite_thespark@Ojay_ronald Yep! No hate, just feel like we should hear her out and, even if someone disagrees with why the show was canceled in the end… we should all be able to empathize with a cast and crew who no doubt received a lotta hate and bullshit from some real uncaring people.
@RebelDoctor2@Juicy_Jase@lite_thespark@Ojay_ronald It’s ok for her to talk about the hate she received without having to talk about what everyone else went through.
This wasn’t a response to critique and tbh the only responses should be “that really sucks” or moving along cause unless someone sent her hate it’s not about them.
