1/Some of the world’s largest environmental groups have thrown their weight behind meat and dairy greenwashing projects, including “climate-friendly” beef, “net-zero” dairy, the meteoric rise of regenerative ranching, and hyper “efficient” Frankenchickens. https://t.co/EPsw8sPaFJ
@TheNutrivore You make a good pint. I've had some productive conversations during street activism as have my peers. But there have been times carnist clowns go out of their way to 'cause more harm', for example, by throwing some fast food burgers at us.
@TheNutrivore@New_Beat Something that's necessary. In this case biodiversity is essential for ecosystem services. By removing wildlife it would be like removing a vital organ in the body - the whole system would collapse.
@TheNutrivore@New_Beat I'm a vegan and support rewilding but you do make an interesting point. Although I think removing wild animals would have negative consequences for all life on earth.
China is the biggest producer & consumer of meat now & this one deal by President Lula may single-handedly shift the Amazon from a net sink to a net emitter of planet-warming emissions
They’ll spin this with an economic story & meat vouchers for the poor

The world will wake up when scientists stop using over used abstractions like "catastrophe". They need to call an emergency international press conference to make clear there is now a 10 percent chance that the 60 million population of the UK will starve to death or be subject to a forced migration within our lifetimes. And that the 10 percent is an underestimate because IPCC always underestimates. They then need to give up their jobs and go into resistance. Obviously, because if they don't, no one will believe them.
Words without actions are meaningless. Nothing will happen until they stop being in denial about the social psychology.
@dennismc17@EllieCG11 Your body makes all the cholesterol it needs. Furthermore, the blood brain barrier prevents the uptake of cholesterol and is therefore independent. So dietary cholesterol will have no effect on brain cholesterol anyway.
Hey @AskNationwide, it's really frustrating I have to use a card reader to send people money. Are you working on removing the need for it? I didn't have this problem with Santander and may have thought twice about switching.
Eating more plant-based “is the single biggest thing individuals can do to make an impact”
“We have huge agency over what we eat, and that really does matter”
“Meat consumption in Germany and the UK reached a record low this year”
Big wins still in 2023

U.S. meat consumption is going up -- that fact is indisputable.
But while you might imagine that all Americans are consistently eating more meat every year, the truth behind this simple graph is much more complicated.
Here are ten charts that explain how we eat meat.🧵
EXPOSED: A push for a new metric to measure #methane emissions is the secret attempt by the meat and dairy industry to downplay its climate impact and #greenwash their image. Watch and share our animation:
I have a major report coming out tomorrow. It’s technical but accessible still. It’s been reviewed by a lead IPCC author and many scientists.

We analyzed a new method of measuring methane and how it’s manipulated & lobbied for by the biggest polluters to claim to be net zero
