Today marks an incredible milestone for @temporalio Technologies. I am proud to share that the company has raised $300M in Series D funding at a $5B valuation, led by @a16z.

dismissing someone’s feelings with “that’s privilege” is poor form.
should we use same amount of time/money to solving everyone’s problems? no.
are their feelings still valid? yes. don't be a jerk.
I only have followers and readers to lose by tweeting about politics, and absolutely nothing to gain. But I also know so many folks who are on the edge and don't follow this closely, because they are busy living their lives, working hard, and raising kids.
The race is very close. Every major poll has it as a toss-up. But only one candidate is threatening to jail poll workers. If you are undecided I hope this makes your decision for you. I'd like to be able to live in a democracy and have my kids live in one. too. Please, even if you don't normally vote or are thinking about sitting this one out, show up and vote to turn the page on this guy.
I promise I'll be done tweeting about politics then, because I won't have to! And all of us can stop thinking about politics (!!), like before Trump, when we had democrats and republican presidents who didn't turn this whole thing into an exhausting and dangerous circus.
Best form of investor due diligence: Get an associate with SRE experience and have them make it through the interview loop to look at the traffic in the system (DB, ingress, etc.)
If many infra/back office SaaS companies exist to commoditize what was once large operational investments (billing, data centers, payments, etc.), shouldn't the future world be made almost entirely of small companies?
Is that the current trend?
i don't purport to know what women want, but i'd be curious or hear from women if they find men who dress like this attractive or if they happen to be attracted to their specific partner despite them dressing like this
@GergelyOrosz@EngGuidebook Including business growth numbers in a resume is also a poor heuristic since the ones making large tech investments are platform teams that can't say: "my DB grew revenue by 50%"
@GergelyOrosz@EngGuidebook In interviews, are we asking enough of "was what you build awesome? or was it right for the business?"
How do you communicate this in a resume?
Late realization: NFTs were a luxury item — they signaled status and most had little utility. But they didn't come with the scarcity or curated/crafted experience needed to have the staying power.
I'm ruminating about coherence.
There's lots of good knowledge out there, but you can't cookie-cutter pick your stances. Everything has to tie together *coherently*.
Sense of taste/fashion, company strategies, life choices. Company strategies are especially incoherent.
@bernhardsson It requires a profoundly different shift, that is potentially not possible, on how we evaluate eng management.
Influence?
Situational awareness?
Problem complexity?
Or just size of team as a poor heuristic?
tldr: Being fast is a skill, but combining it with vision helps.
I’ve played hockey for 8 years now — 3 from 8-11 and since 2016 except COVID. I now play on an intermediate hockey team once a week.
And obvi, since this is Twitter, let’s make it work related — utilize speed as a skill, but sometimes you have to coast with your head up and not striving with your head down. Play the right position and you won’t need to use so much energy to win.
